He centered the top line with NHL picks DeBrincat (CHI) and Taylor Raddysh (TB) on his wings. Legit talent and at 6'2" 180 he has good size. He will be a big riser if he continues to play like that.

Well, his numbers in Russia weren't stellar. He was also very young, maybe he is a bit of a "late" bloomer. A few guys in his teams had better stats than him, but then quit hockey.

Just curious how come this kid was an import draft pick. If he moved to usa us when he was 14, shouldn't he have just been ohl draft eligible? Not sure how that rule works.

His parents still lived in Russia so he was ruled an import.

I'm not sure if an NHL team will take a chance on Gera but he improved as the season went on. He's likely getting a huge bump in playing time next season and could be in for a breakout season.

Can you explain this to me please.

Does that means Preds can sign him?

He still have multiple years of draft eligibility.

Undrafted CHL-ers are basically UFAs in the time period from the draft to the end of NHL training camps, I guess you remember guys like Tolchinskiy, Sergeyev, Sharipzyanov who did this trick.

Looking forward to seeing him play today. They invited another undrafted, Ryan Hughes from Portland who is in a similar boat.

I think he is one of the players like Sherbak who benefited by going to the CHL, both weren't top prospects even on their junior teams in Russia and by going to the CHL were able to get some icetime and attract KHL attention. They might have made it eventually either way but I feel they would have just ended up in the VHL.

Signed with Neman in Belarus for the next season after spending the end of this season on loan there.
