LW/C Colton Dach - Saskatoon Blades, WHL (2021, 62nd, CHI)

c'mon. Colton is 19 yo, not a baby who couldn't live without his parents. As we Rockets fans say, he has proved he is not just playing in Kirby's shadow. Next season may be tough for him and Rockets, let's just wait and see how he handles the bigger challenge.

Some guys may watch Kelowna games for cristall this season, so I'd like to know how you think about Colton Dach. Because I feel like his play was a little weird, didn't like himself. I don't know how to describe…

Kinda seems unnecessary from Seattle point, they already had a insane forward group but kinda still need 1 more top 4 dman. Decent return for Kelowna and smart to move him....wonder how long he's hurt for though

Their top 9 is outta control right now... And Lambert still hasn't technically been sent there yet. It's happening but just hasn't quite yet

Unsure when he's back playing but apparently it's "well before playoffs begin"......

"While Colton is currently recovering from an injury, we expect him to be back well before the playoffs begin,” says La Forge. “He is a big, talented center that provides us with another offensive weapon as we chase our Championship goals.”

I had the same question when I saw the trade announced - when will he be ready to play. I thought I read somewhere that he would be out about 6 weeks - is that incorrect?

I believe it's around the 8 week mark .. should be back about end of Feb/start March.

So if it's start of March, he will get in about 12 regular season games before playoffs start

Agreed. Seattle has 3 no.1 lines now. There is only 1 puck after all.

When healthy he is a very good player. Big, physical, good hands, but can also skate. I think he is an NHL player if he can stay healthy. Tough with them Dach injury genes.

Im glad he is doing pretty good after being injured many times in last couple of years. I have been a huge fan of him during his draft year and wanted Columbus to draft him with their late 1st that year.

10 pts in 10 AHL games. if he can stay healthy could be a great power forward for the Hawks

I’ve always had my doubts about this kid - but that AHL production is fantastic. Would push that Blackhawks rebuild a little further ahead if he became a strong middle-6er.

Got his 2nd career assist in 4th game

Hopefully he is up for the rest of year and Hawks start offloading shit from roster and letting kids like Dach play

Haven't seen Colton Dach play in the NHL aside from his game against the Canadiens, but in the one game I saw he had some pretty good flashes out there so I'm happy to see that Dach is getting rewarded for his efforts in Chicago.

As for the personnel changes ahead of the deadline for Chicago, those will happen in the coming weeks.

Taylor Hall will be dealt and Donato will go too most likely.

Then there's an outside chance someone takes a flyer on guys like Smith and Maroon as fourth-liners/depth in case of injury on the cheap come the deadline.

But I don't think the Blackhawks should trade any of their veterans that have term left and want to actually be there in Chicago, guys like Teravainen, as they need those to insulate some of the young guys.

Regardless, in the next few weeks I expect there to be at least 2, maybe 3 roster spots wide open for some of the young guys in Rockford.

An aside I know, but I've liked Landon Slaggert's play in the couple Rockford games that I caught earlier this season. He was physical in those, very energetic, and made quite a few understated skill plays.

Perhaps I only saw Slaggert's best games and I don't get the full picture of his performance for a middling team in the AHL, could very well be, but he was noticeable and effective when I watched.

Slaggert is extended on a one year deal beginning next year so I expect him on the roster for next season and likely post deadline this year.
