Chytil's speed & poise is fantastic, but guy misses the net too much.

He was in a great spot playing with good players in a secondary role (match-up wise) got the best shooting opportunities of anyone on the team and missed the net every Fing time.

I'm not off the Chytil bandwagon at all, but c'mon fella.

Honestly though. The team was really rusty, and I think it was to be expected. EDM got dummied by Philly, NYR got embarrassed by Buffalo. Not saying the roster is perfect but we didn't have our A game tonight & other good teams didn't either.

I thought Pettersson's line was their best. Got the only goal.. Idk. Its first game out of the break. Pettersson being hurt is a concern but they just need to shake off the rust more than anything.

Hopefully they win tommorrow & can start getting back in a positive groove.

The Dak/Garland pairing are getting chances but aren't coming through clutch like they did last season, maybe with a better center they can bury some more chances. They need to find a 2C and drop Chytil down. They have a collection of middle tier pairings Dak/Garland, OConnor/Chytil, Debrusk/Sherwood.

Pettersson is currently on pace to finish with less than 20 goals for the first time in his career. And he's currently the fifth highest paid player in the league.

This is 'bad' folks. It's been over a year now. And if this is all they're going to get, then this would be the worst contract in franchise history--and it wouldn't even be close as to which was the 'second worst'.

Allvin is a master craftsman at sliding out from under onerous contracts. But there's no sliding under the limbo bar with this one. It would be 'franchise-crippling' for years.

Offense is a black hole without Hughes, and if Boeser wants the big bucks, and EP40 wants to remain here, they have to at least find a way to produce something on the PP, especially in a tight game like this. People complain about $3m Myers, who's actually providing great value, but the loss is squarely on those two. They're "the" guys in that lineup.

I don't think they should extend Boeser, he's not a difference maker, he really misses Miller, and is only going to get slower. With EP40, unless you're absolutely sure he's going to recover and/or rebound and produce 100 points per year consistently, and not simply PPG production, because that's what $11.6 million should be getting the team, you have to deal him and do it before his NT kicks in. He shouldn't have gone to 4 Nations, he could have used the time off, and maybe even a week on either end of it. Plug Raty into the lineup for now, there's really nothing to lose.

PPG while being elite defensively in shutdown minutes is absolutely worth $11.6M. He doesn’t need to score 100+ points.

However we need to trade Boeser. I think he's a great guy but he is already so slow and I don't wanna commit to 8 years and a big cap hit to someone who is gonna be molasses by the end of it.

Biggest problem remains Pettersson who now has 5 ESP in his last 27 games including the 4 Nations. That's one more than Derek Forbort and two less than Phil Di Giuseppe have in their last 27 games. Nobody is saying an injury can't have an effect, but in a league where pretty much every player sucks it up and finds ways to contribute while playing hurt, it simply can't explain a performance this embarrassingly terrible.

We know that Pettersson firing on all cylinders can produce 110 points/82 GP. If he was banged up and producing, you know, like 75-90 points, finding ways to contribute ... fair enough. But dude has 7 ESG in his last 82 NHL games. It's absurd. Minor knee tendonitis does not explain scoring at a 15 ESP/82 pace over a period of months from a guy who is normally a 70 ESP/82 player.

I think it's fair to call an injury that has resulted in 0 missed games/missed practices/not even sitting Game 82 last year when all the injured players were rested 'minor'. The player has said it's causing zero pain. The team has repeatedly minimalized any potential impact. It's obviously not some sort of 'major' injury.

Per the bolded, only Pettersson, JT Miller (lol), and Filip Forsberg (Pettersson's winger) would be considered 'star-level' players who went pointless. But hey, don't include it if you want. Pettersson's performances this year have still been consistently *awful* except for the 15-game run around the time of the Miller absence.

Sadly, the tendinitis is likely a result of overplaying Petey in garbage time of 2023, when many of us pointed out that hockey is not a video game where players don't get injured. This is real life and overplaying players will lead to long term problems like we are seeing with Petey and Demko

He is the starter now. He should be at
Expected to carry the heavy starters load. As for the play-offs, if they want to get there they will need to ride him hard with Demko constantly injured. Not that it matters they team is first round fodder. Finding out whetted they stand b going into next year is far more important.
