Can anyone believe he doesn't have a single shutout yet this season? Especially since he's been playing ridiculously well the last 10 games or so. Even Bryz has 1 shutout and he blows. Maybe it's because people keep jinxing the GDTs :sarcasm:

Anyway, I think he gets one this season.

I guess this is player discussion thread.

Well I believe Henrik can win another Vezina this season. He seems to be finally rounding into form, even with the phantom softies he is getting called out for. He may not get the shutout, but he is consistently the best netmidner in the game. His past reputation will obviously play a part in this too.

I think hes been in form for some time now, hes just actually getting some goal support for a change

lundqvist VS bobrovski for the veszina this season... lundqvist having won it, high high high chance he wins it again. bishop and anderson haven't played enough games to be considered imo. nobody else comes close... imo henrik needs a shutout to win it though.

Tuukka Rask.

Tuukka Rask.

not even the same tier as lundqvist right now(or bob right now)... or ever. he's had a great team in front of him all season. lundqvist goes yet another year carrying the rangers to the playoffs on his head and shoulders. more impressive though if bob takes a team that everybody rules out from august to the playoffs.

It's Bob's to lose.

But Hank is making a very strong case.

So is Neimi.

haven't seen much of niemi this season so i don't know enough to comment on him, but i agree bob's probably had more quality saves than lundqvist. kind of hoping bob gets it. he came out of nowhere with this season's performance. from backup to #1 in the league. glad cbj picked him up. hoping he can repeat it next season, too.

whether or not cbj makes the playoffs is probably going to be a big factor.

I'd love for it to be Lundqvist vs Bobrovsky. Either lundqvist wins it again or we'll here Cop jokes about bobrovsky until the end of eternity

"YOU'RE OFF THE CASE BOBROVSKY!"

10 games to win a Vezina. If Henrik can play the same way he did in the last 10, he's probably going to take the prize considering CBJ isn't going to make the POs and Rask has a team in front of him + Rask hasn't played as many games (27).
Bob won't keep it up through the final stretch.

Who cares. The guys a beast in net and especially in his last 10. 6-2-2 appx 1.50 gaa and 920+ save %

This guy is the best goalie in the world,no questions..

everyone cares if he wins a Vezina or not.

Idc if he does or not. As long as he plays to the best of his abilities that's all that counts. Would it be nice if he won it,yeah of course. But as a Rangers fan my concern is not shut outs or the Verona but making the playoffs and moving fwd. that should be everyone's concern. A healthy and steady like always Henke

Dude is in absolute God mode right now. If he keeps this up, the Vezina is his, regardless of Conn Smythe trophies. Though, if their stats are close, GMs will give it to Bob.

Lundqvist is undoubtedly the best goalie in the world right now.

That he has these numbers without a single shutout is a great indicator of consistency... one year he ran a 912 with 10+ shutouts and he was very shaky in a lot of his games.

He should be in the conversation for Vezina, and perhaps even a finalist for the Hart.

He has given up more than 3 goals only twice this season. Hasn't allowed more than 2 the last 10 games.

For goalies with 25 or more starts:

Lundqvist is now second in save % (.928), second in GAA (2.07), tied for 3rd in wins (17), 6th in TOI. He's certainly in the conversation for Vezina.

Also, have to say having surpassed Giacomin in franchise wins, probably guaranteed a banner raising number in the rafters, too.

Funny part about this is that for most of the season and especially the beginning, Henrik was not sharp. Lots of rebounds. If he can finish strong, 2 Shutouts and Rangers continue to play well - I don't see how he wouldn't win the Vezina.

Adding to this. He's given up more than 2 goals in 10 of his 33 starts ( 2 of those 10 were 4 goal games) and of those 10 in which he's given up more than 2, he's got 2 wins. He's also LOST 8 games while allowing 2 or LESS goals.
Among goalies with at least 20 starts, he's 2nd in SV% and 3rd in GAA.

Hank with some goal scoring support would be a shoo-in for the Vezina right now...

Not to stir up this hornet's nest again, but hey, why not?

No doubt that Henrik is the best goalie in the world today. He is so good that he is taken for granted around much of the NHL. If he retired today, he is a HOF goalie and one of the best things about him is knowing that he has probably 5 or 6 more years, at least, where we will see him at his best. His play last night was phenomenal, and he seems to be getting on one of his rolls that could carry us far into the playoffs. He is steadily making it into the conversation about the greatest goalies not only of his era but of all time. It is hard to imagine anyone better, he is simply that good.

I don't want to bring up Lundqvist vs Richter again. I love Mike, the heart and soul of the teams of his era. Henrik, talent-wise is certainly the better goalie and must be considered as superior to Mike although we sometimes forget just how good he was and he does have that Cup.

But can we say that Lundqvist was better than Eddie Giacomin? No we can't.
Can we say that Giacomin as better than Lundqvist? No, we can't say that either.

In fact, although they played in different eras and their styles of play were very different, I find the arcs of their careers, at least at this point to be very similar. By the way, I was at the old MSG when Eddie made his NHL debut in 1965 and was at the Garden when he returned after his trade to Detroit in 1975 (I'm sure most of year have seen film of that night).

One is a HOFer, the other will be. Both recorded a ton of shutouts. Both have won Vezinas (although Eddie's was shared with Gilles Villimure when it was a team trophy for least goals allowed). Eddie never won us a Cup. Henrik hasn't done that either (but hopefully will).

I know its common for those who were born after a player's career is finished to minimize players who came before them. That's human nature and certainly understandable to me (although I once found it hilarious that Yankee fans voted Don Mattingly the greatest Yankee first baseman of all time over Lou Gehrig). Hey, I've probably done it myself.

Henrik is certainly phenomenal. I was in awe of his play last night. No adjectives can do him justice. He certainly ranks as one of the greatest Ranger goalies ever and it is hard to imagine anyone playing better. But others have played just as great. Lundqvist vs Giacomin. A great conversation and argument. Just because I bring Eddie into the ongoing love fest for Henrik, which is certainly deserved, doesn't mean I am devaluing him. Just wanted to say, don't forget Eddie Giacomin in discussions about the greatest Ranger goalie of all time. Hopefully Henrik will win more Vezinas and get up another Cup. Then the conversation will be pointless and there will be no doubt.

The Rangers have a great tradition of outstanding goaltenders: Gumper, Eddie, JD (when he was healthy), Beezer, Mike, and now the King. Wow.
