I would hope to get a 2nd for Schenn. He is almost league minimum for cap so any team could make the $ work. If it's less than a 2nd - there doesn't seem to be much incentive to the Nucks. I saw 2 x 3rd round picks, but I would try to hold out for a 2nd. A player drafted in the 2nd round historically has about a 30% chance of being a 200 game NHLer. That drops to about 10% in the 3rd round. I like the higher probability and the quality of player in the second round so I see the value. Otherwise keep Schenn with Hughes and see if he would re-sign in the off season again (hoping that living in Kelowna in the off season gives the Canucks a leg up in free agency).

He's an ok depth guy. I wouldn't pay X for a depth guy. He's pretty meh, take Engvall for him.

We're not even talking the same sport, let alone being in the same ball park, for Schenn's value. A second round pick would be the minimum, and that would be from a subpar team. We have more reason to keep him, rather than move him, and frankly if you're acquiring him to play as a 7th D, you're better off taking your less significant assets elsewhere.

I feel like Schenn would be a good fit. not sure where he slots in but could we not use a guy that will hit everything in sight? feels like we are still missing that kind of player

I actually could see this happening, good fit if the price is reasonable.

If you build a team with the assumption they are all healthy at all times, you will have a bad time.
This season has been a worse case scenario for injuries to defense and the depth has stepped up just fine. I think Toronto uses any picks for a 2nd line winger or help on the 3rd line. I don't think Schenn cracks their top 6.

No one is assuming the team will be healthy at all times. But we likely only have the assets for one or 2 moves. Why have one of those be to address something that isn’t a problem when you have places on the roster that is a problem even when the team is healthy.

I don’t have a problem spending assets to bring in a Dman but he better be good enough to push someone out of our top 6

Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-Liljegren
Sandin-Holl
Muzzin-Timmins
Benn-Mete

Ignoring Muzzin who's likely done in the NHL...Schenn would be what? maybe fighting for 7th best d-man on that group at best? And the difference between him and Timmins/Benn/Mete isn't worth 2nds or 3rds of whatever Canuck fans want.

I would not mind Schenn. I think he's an upgrade on Timmins and can compete with Holl for a bottom-pairing role. But the price would have to reflect that #6-7 role. That is a 3rd round pick range, more-or-less what Lyubushkin cost to fill a similar role last year. Canucks fans seem to think that is too little, which... so be it.

I don't think there's a deal here. IMO Leafs don't need him enough to pay what the Canucks could probably get from other teams.

I like Schenn, and would be happy to have him back as a Leaf at some point. But Timmins joining Toronto just means there's no more room on the roster for Luke now.

Maybe if all VAN wants is a spare depth forward like Engvall, or maybe as a UFA in the offseason.

It will cost a first round draft pick. There is no desire to trade Schenn from Canucks side.

I think that's what it would take.
You're not getting Schenn for less than a 2nd. To outbid other teams if he's moved, you'll likely have to add a small piece to the 2nd. Like a 4thor 5th or something.

If two 3rds is the best offer, we may as well just keep him.
