Superstar in the making
He can potentially be better than Quinn . I’m going to get roasted for saying that . I’m saying a net positive “ better “ where Luke can dominate on offence and defence. Luke might not be as dynamic on offence but he will be close enough where his defence will be better than Quinn and I’d take Luke over Quinn if given the choice

I for one remain shocked that the biggest, fastest skating Hughes bro is in fact very good at hockey

It's a massive bar to reach. Like a MASSIVE bar.

But from a physical standpoint, Luke is bigger and faster than quinn

Pretty scary looking dman for a 21 year old. Really has taken a big step in a short amount of time. Impressive rookie campaign but I saw a lot of warts, cleaned up a lot of em already.

Hughes family is kinda nuts with it though. A challenger for the Tkachuks as the greatest American hockey clan.

Keith/Matthew/Brady vs Quinn/Jack/Luke will be a fun comparison but I think Jim and then especially Ellen will push the Hughes over the finish

I feel like Luke will never control play like Quinn, because he’s a pretty big unicorn there. The fluidity of his skating and his elusiveness with the puck is amazing and something I don’t think Luke can match. And it’s that skating that creates so many lanes from the backend that just straight speed doesn’t.

But he might be more of a traditional two-way defenseman who can still be elite in transition and in the offense end while also having the size and strength to be more of a shutdown presence as well. I guess it depends on what one values more.

Meh. Sure his shot can be better but he has a great shot as well. 9 goals last year on 7 ixG. 27 goals in 80 games with Michigan. He’s not going to continue getting this unlucky
Should have been more clear here- I think the quality of his shot is fine. I was more referring to his ability to get shots through sticks and bodies and knowing when to shoot vs pass in certain scenarios. This is a very minor and nitpicky thing lol

This is why it was ridiculous to fill out the 4N Team. L. Hughes right now is a much better player than Hanifin who a I was really surprised was named. I rate L. Hughes,
Sanderson, Vlasic and possibly McDonagh over Hanifin.

I’d definitely have McDonagh over Hanifin and I don’t get that choice. At least with the other 3 you have the “they’re young” card to play. Luke keeps this up and he’ll be impossible to leave off the Olympic team.

Turns out that having two parents with playing experience is better than one.
