Luke Hughes goes end-to-end for the late goal to tie things up!

This is the main board big lou, i visit lots of threads, quit quoting me.

Sorry big lou if you think this wasn’t anything more than an average goal. You’re more than welcome to go shake your pom poms on the devils board about it though.

Didn’t know Big Lou posts here…I hear his commercials every day on the radio driving to work

I've been noticing this more this season. Why are the defensemen letting players just carry the puck into the best scoring sector into the slot for a free shot on goal like this? Once upon a time, you actually had to get through the blue line. The defensemen are so far back that they're not really of any use. What happened?

Also, the defending is performed completely incorrectly, at too slow a speed, and too far back. They're supposed to be higher up, and skate backwards along with the forward, giving them more time to take the forward with the stick, or to take the body, etc. This kind of pylon-defending just gets you bypassed without you being able to do anything about it.

Perhaps players are only focusing on forward skating in their training and backward skating is neglected so players can no longer defend correctly? This is really sad.

They thought he was going to pass it back to Jack and Luke was alert enough to strip them of their dignity. Immensely talented goal

I think in the old days, this is where Scott Stevens and other players would make you pay and that kind of hitting is out of the game opening up the middle of the ice like this.
