Surprised they did this now, thought they would wait and see how he does next year as he had a terrible season and then this year he had a breakout as he had almost as many points this year then he had in his career in 103 games (22 vs 25 pts)

I would keep him in the SHL, he needs to find a way to consistently put it all together. He's got the size, skating, speed, with some decent offense and his defensive game is ok. That said if his game has taken a big enough leap forward and they feel he's better off in the AHL then so be it.

If we re-sign Plekanec, he should be our 3rd line center, not in our 4th line. He looked absolutely terrible in Toronto on the 4th line. He looked much better when they moved him up in the top 9 and gave him more responsibilities.
Plekanec's game just isn't suited to be a 4th liner.

And yet if they sign him, he's likely getting PP time.

At 21-22 Pleky had 29 points in the NHL... But that was not the point.

Plus, DLR suck, most of his points came from his 2-3 good games with Drouin/Galchy.

imo, you're exactly correct that most of his points came from playing with Galchenyuk and other players he has no buisness playing with.

But, again imo, that doesn't mean he sucks, it just means he sucks at forward. With his package of size, speed, stick handling, shot, decision making with the puck, etc..., plus no offensive aptitude whatsoever, I'd like to see if he can crack it as a dman.

Fine signature. Though him having an opt-out, it's hard to imagine that someone will prefer the AHL money rather than the SHL one. But we really have to hope that he sticks around. Enough with the "but it's preferable that he develops over there...." He is 22 freakin years old. Time to see what he can do here.

yeah, I wonder what kind of money they'll give him to play in Laval. Terry gets over 600k. And, i wonder how much he's making in Sweeden. It may also be about being in the best possible spot to get a big contract in the future.

another sub DLR, anither Nattinen....

waste of depth space and $$$ .

there was no rush to sign him.

I would wait and see how he looks but I don't see any harm in playing another year in Sweden. He struggled last year and then this year he breaks out, so I would be interested to see how he does this year over there to see if he can build off it. I much prefer they take their time with prospects, use caution over rushing kids that aren't ready.

he's on an ELC, he can only make 70K plus signing bonus.

Ah, ok. Still I'm surprised how much good AHL players can make after their Entry level contract. Terry, Cracknell, and Lindgren all make their NHL salary in the AHL. Taormina makes 350k. Wish I had stayed in hockey longer, to see if I could have made the AHL at those salaries.

Finally! Can't wait to see how his play translates on american ice. Big center, has to develop his shot.

Christer Rockstrom needs to be held accountable for his picks eventually, hes made far too many shitty ones recently.. let's see how Vejdemo pans out.

I've seen quite a bit of him in the last 3 years ( not that his team was always all that fun to watch mind you...) . I like his chances as far as being a decent pro is concerned, he's big, fast, hard working and cerebral in all three zones. Don't expect too much flash out of him though, he's at his best with the puck in transition, not so much once he's into the offensive zone. He's closer to DLR than Eller, which might not translate to much of an offensive impact in the NHL. He might prove me wrong though, I've seen some occasional flashes of puck skill out of him here and there.

I don’t know if there’s another franchise that consistently swings and misses with their Scandinavian prospects like the Habs.
