I appreciate your permission for me to disagree.
Though it is clearly not against the rules as they are currently written, IMO this use violates the "spirit of rule" and should be changed.
There’s a poster here who thinks that’s actually going to happen. Lol.NHL is afraid Leafs are going to exploit this by pulling Matt Murray off of Robidas Island for the playoffs.![]()

Not sure which of you words I twisted, nor what is ironic or hypocritical. IMO the rules should not allow players coming off LTIR at the beginning of the playoffs or the on ice roster should be cap compliant during the playoffsOh puh-leeze.
You don't mind twisting my words against the spirit in which they were written in.order to suit your needs. But if a team does it you are against it. Talk about the irony.
Some might even call it hypocritical.
Leafs need a higher salary cap due to taxes
Switch it to a luxury tax like baseball please and thanksGet rid of the cap
Seems like they lost to the Devil's every year no matter how much they spent on the roster.
All this talk about LTIR and cap circumvention. The Leafs not only spearheaded the use of LTIR but also were the first team to utilize using more than one contract at a time. The term "Robidas Island" was invented for a reason.
But I guess it's only unfair if other teams are doing it.
Did any of the "Robidas Island" players ever return to play in the playoffs?
Completely agree. If they're a cap league, then be a cap league from opening night unit the final whistle and the Cup is awarded.

There seems to be further discussion about changing the LTIR rules. What are your thoughts about this?
Perhaps rosters should be cap compliant in the playoffs too.
They should make a special tax agreement between countries. No state all federal tax @40% or whatever for all professional sports athletes paid above 500k or something.
Not like there are thousands of these people.
Factor in property taxes, insurance rates, taxable write offs, asset depreciation, endorsements, it's not possibleLeague could do something without involving any government.
Reward teams who contribute to revenue sharing.
Cap + HRR*state/provincial tax = Team Cap
So:
Teams with no state nor provincial tax get - Cap.
Teams paying state or provincial tax get - Cap + (TaxRate*HRR)
This would also encourage full disclosure of HRR because it would reward the contributors.
Moreso it would decrease the pool of money the owners would pay. They support MORE of this circumvention, not less.NHLPA would tear up this idea as it'd "rush" injured players back

Imagine having to inform your star player that, due to the risks associated with waiting for his recovery, the team is proceeding with trades. Consequently, he will not participate in the playoffs, irrespective of whether the team makes it to the finals.
Imagine having to waive a guy in the playoffs for a day to day injury because there's not enough space to call someone up

This is why the suggestions here won't work. Suggestions like "Playoff teams must be cap compliant as well."
Ok. So a cusp playoff team has a star player go down near the trade deadline. They're out until the playoffs. So they make a trade for another star player to help them make the playoffs. The playoffs begin, and the original star player is now healthy enough to play.
What the nhl doesn't want is to have healthy star players sitting out during the playoffs due to "cap restrictions". Like, what a shit show that would be. There's no easy answer. But sitting out stars in the playoffs due to weird circumstances isn't the path to go.
Been there, done that.Circumcision ??
Your grasp on reality is rivaled only by your grasp on reading and comprehension.Oh puh-leeze.

Fix NMC as well. Luxury tax maybe? League needs so much
