I know here in Europe the tourney is viewed as a joke and insult to other nations
That was a very broad statement, maybe you should say that i think the tournament is a joke and an insult? Peter Forsberg was really glad that Viasat got the rights, as he works for them and was planning on going anyways.

Mfs are charging $115 for the bleeds I’m crying man

It’s an NHL sanctioned event. They could’ve easily allowed a Russian team with NHL players to participate just like UFC has no issues with Russian fighters participating and wearing Russian flags
UFC doesn't have to manage relations with other leagues or different international federations. They would burns bridges if they just ignored everyone.

I read somewhere about complains from Swedish Hockey Association. You know, they host the EHT tournament (Beijer Hockey Games 2025) in Stockholm just days before the 4 Nations. Swedes are concerned that nobody will care about their EHT tournament.

When the Canada Cup was held in Edmonton in 84 originally your choice was to buy tickets to every game in Edmonton or none at all. They said there would be no option for single games. Of course after some of us suckers bought the package because of very low uptake they changed that and allowed single game sales. Some of the games drew fewer fans than a junior game. The Soviet vs USA game was played in an arena that was about 1/3 full.

At the time the only interest was in Canada vs XXX and today it is really still that way in Canadian cities. My guess is that this is doubly true in the USA where any game not involving the USA will draw little interest. Moreover, for this tournament I'd say that the only significant draw is Canada vs USA.

The reality with these tournaments is that outside of complete diehards fans only care about their own country.

Tickets are insanely overpriced and noone knows if the product will be any good. This is a tournament born to replace the all-Star game. It is a near certainty that it will be more interesting than the ASG, which was putrid, but there is no reason to buy tickets that are more expensive than RS games that actually matter.

If they had made it a family friendly event with family friendly prices, I think the narrative around the event would be much different.

And then, one or two years later, if the narrative is good, they can jack up the prices.

Stop trying to use logic, reasoning and all sorts of good judgement. But please, for our sake, don't stop either.

Nobody cares about this overglorified joke of a “tournament”

Exactly. The only difference between now and previous NHL attempts is that it is happening in the middle of the winter after football season so it will be more convenient to watch the world cups in September. But even then I doubt we will remember who wins any more than we remember who wins any more than we remember who wins the 2019 World Hockey Championships.

Be honest, has anyone ever went up to you in person and uttered the words “I’m excited for the 4 Nations Faceoff”
well there is no "prestige" in winning this cup i think, it has no history, but I think its interesting, if you like
hockey to see 4 of the top 6 nations compete with their best players, Crosby MacKinnon McDavid on same team for example, I think there is a TV angle also, see if they can give their TV partners some Value considering all games are on ABC ESPN and TNT, one is ABC in the evening.

And there are not many chances a person get in a lifetime to see best on best, when was it 2016 and 2014 last? one was in russia, one in NA, and next in Italy, who knows the next time?

But yes the ticket prize stinks, I dont no why, is it greed, is it because insurance for players is sky high?
I personally would have liked the NHL to sell ticket for 10 bucks for any seat, would have spread goodwill
and got ordinary joes who love hockey.

So how many tickets have been sold to the games so far? where can i see that information?
