OT: Lounge (Read OP).

A bucket list item of mine is to attend the Isle of ManTT. Every year this time of year I am just amazed at these guys and I try and watch the highlights. Not much in sports actually makes my jaw drop anymore, it’s more an appreciation of talent, but what these guys do in concentration and guts does.

Love it. I had a pair of Polks and a Sony receiver back in the day.
Two years ago I put together a vintage system for less than $300 that sounds better than anything I've heard in years.

Superscope 1240 Receiver $75 on FB (Superscope was owned by Marantz & their "borgen budget line". All Marantz transistors & caps are installed from the factory)
Ohm C2 Speakers with upgraded tweeters $150 on FB
Yamaha P-850 Turntable $40 on FB.

I use a crappy old Philips DVD player to listen to CDs & it still sounds phenomenal.

Amp in the receiver is at the limit for the size of my living room & at some point I plan to upgrade to a Marantz 1090 integrated amp. I don't need a tuner. People are amazed at the sound quality however & it suits my needs for the moment. I'm going to sell it all when I move in a few months which sucks, but I'll probably double my money.

Not much. I would probably do my home renovation sooner and eat sushi 1-2 times per week :)
Thank you. I appreciate your answer. Everyone is different so I'm curious to hear lots of posters thoughts on the matter. :)

If you had 4 or 5 million dollars what would you do differently?

As someone who has virtually never enjoyed an adult moment of easy breathing? Pay off all of my debt (5-6k?), pay off me and the lady’s cars (40k?) and buy a $500k house. The rest? I’d put $100k in checking, for some small things we’d love like some ($2k each) new clothes and a concert or two, keep the remainder in checking as our “cushion”, keep working and pretend the remaining 3.5M didnt exist and it wouldn’t even bother me knowing it was there. I have no needs. My family has no needs. A $500k home where we live would be MORE than we have ever dreamed of. We’d pay our insurance, cell phone and property taxes and I’d work at the brewery doing what I love with the bills being paid. Our requirements are so modest. The biggest source of spending at that point would be food - locally sourced, non-GMO, no additive bullshit food. Raw honey, grass fed and finished beef, grass fed butter, raw milk, grade A syrup, (real) sourdough. That’s all. I’d be as non-reliant on society as possible as well. Just sourcing as much from local farms and merchants as possible.

I’d get a green egg and a pizza oven. Spend $10k on a whiskey collection (literally zero need or purpose to more besides ego - the number of $30-70 bottles I’ve drank that I’ve enjoyed more than $1000 bottles is vast). Maybe a ‘58 Les Paul and get my teeth whitened. And some larger boobsicles for my lady.

I enjoyed this answer minus the booze. I just had my teeth whitened $499. They improved a 2-3 shades but not like Ross on friends lol. :D

That $3.5 mill in 4% treasuries should bring you around $140,000 a year in interest.

I remember the day after I paid off all my credit card debt. Waking up felt so good. It was like a big weight was lifted off my shoulders.

I noticed that there was a weird left sidebar that appeared blank to me. I blocked it in uBlock Origin so it's back to how it had been.
For me, I am already running Ublock, & I don't have any of those side bars. The top toolbars are the same, but the replies have been shrunk to the middle of the page. I'm attaching a screenshot...
