OT: Lounge (Read OP).

I cannot catch a break.

Rainbow was in the hospital over night 3 nights while pregnant, back in the first week of March.

My sister gave birth mid-March, caught some kind of resistant strain of staph and spent 10 days in the infectious ward unit before being discharged and able to see her daughter.

My younger brother got into a drunken domestic incident with his girlfriend last weekend and was arrested and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon by the DA and held on $5k bail.

I’m in the ER right now on morphine and Zofran while they prep to move me to surgery to remove my appendix because it just decided I needed another little something to keep things exciting. Boys, I am so miserable. The pain/nausea in my right abdomen is wildly inappropriate and needs to go away.

Anyone following the markets. I'm a buyer this morning.

For some perspective the 200 day MA for the S and P 500 is around 4600-4700. We may run out of sellers before then but in the past things have usually bounced back at that 200 day moving average. People have felt a lot of pain in this Tarrif based selloff but the people that missed the last years upside now have a chance to buy at those levels if they have a long term outlook.

Here is the good news in my view. This selloff is all self induced by politics. When we sold off during Covid that was not self induced and we had no idea what the world would be like. Unemployment soared during Covid. People stayed home. That is not the case today. The good news about it being self induced is that the same people that caused it can fix it. Its not an unknown like Covid.

“I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately,” Trump posted on his Truth Social.

Thank you!

Had the strangest dream. Rangers won the cup with a bunch of scrubs. I didn't watch because it didn't seem real. I was telling my dad (deceased) that he wouldn't believe it but we won.

Are those vix options? I use the vix but I don't buy or sell options on it.
VXX. It's an ETN (exchange-traded note) issued by Barclays that rolls short-term VIX futures. Since futures are in contango, in the absence of volatility spikes, the price decays over time. So, in the long run, a short is generally safe. It gets hairy, though, when you see a one-day spike from $20 to $75. So, for that, a protective call can be pretty useful.

One more thing, since it's a Barclays-issued note, it's actually a debt product, so you're also taking on credit risk on Barclays, though I'd argue that's immaterial right now.

Very interesting. I use the VIX to as a contrarian. I do write some puts for income and entry point buys but you sound more experienced and educated in options than I am.

Happy Passover and Happy Easter to you and every one else that celebrates these holidays. :)

Always wash your hands before touching anything!
Right after college, we went out for wings with a bunch of friends in the city. My buddy & his GF went home & began hooking up when she started screaming....he didn't wash his hands before touching her in her nether-regions. Hence the term Tabasco Cat was coined...we borrowed the name from the horse that won 2 of 3 triple crown legs that year.
