Loudest Arena? Quietest Arena?

For some reason people always sleep on Carolina in these pre-playoff threads, then when the same topic comes up in a month it’s “Carolina AINEC”

Carolina is a good mention, but it doesn’t really compare to MTL or Winnipeg

It can get pretty loud sometimes with competing fan bases as they try to out cheer each other.

It can be quiet in Ottawa, particularly if it’s a weeknight and everyone has to drive home from Kanata.

The more drinking, the louder it gets.

Playoffs are a different beast IMO.

This thread comes up a lot and aside from dodgy decibel meters, it’s pretty hard to be definitive about it.

Some smaller arenas can seem louder because of the acoustics even though fewer people are making noise.

Where you end up sitting may also make a difference.

We’re pretty decent in the playoffs. Marty Brodeur once said Ottawa in the playoffs is the loudest building he’s played in.

Many of you know that I work as a camera op for US broadcasters

Montreal is a very intense venue - Winnipeg is also loud

Toronto is a soft venue, but that is because of the corporate nature of the tickets.
