Because Lou, among with Demers and Bowman (and Quenneville maybe?), are all living embodiments of the Blues curse.

I suppose some think that if he isn't with the Devils anymore, his portion of the curse might be broken. I, for one, believe he and the others need to be fully out of hockey before their portions of the curse are broken.
