Please...

Someone...Anyone...Please help us make this happen. We don't want anything for him.

Lou is the most overrated executive anywhere in any NHL front office. Cares more about players having low numbers, trading 1st rounders for average talent, not announcing team signings, and facial hair then he does actually building a winner.

If Trotz didn't accept the only head coaching job on the market when he was let go by the Caps back in 2018, this Islander season is what you would've been seeing the last 7 seasons.

Help us...We're dying over here.

What's your offer?

I mean at this point who is still defending Lou? Feels like he's pretty properly rated. If anything the last couple years with NYI has made people forget about the beginning of his career.

He did exactly what he needed to at the time he was successful. Unfortunately, that was 30-25 years ago.

Has not aged well (actually he himself has aged pretty well, but not his style)

Islanders should give him a comfy executive job.

Let someone else be GM. He made some good teams but these couple last years a lot of mistakes.

He already has a comfy executive job. He's such a control freak that he'll never just sit back and watch someone else do a job he was just doing. They need to eject him from the premises and have security make sure he never comes back.

I promise there are guys just like Lou in your age range. It’s that 1% of people who are obsessive type-A workaholics who end up being executives and don’t even think about retirement.
He could very well be delegating a lot of the travel parts of his job. But, he's nearing the end. Up to the owner to make that call.

A small number of people are wired to keep going to just about when they pass. Travel, golf, hobbies, family time, just not their cup of tea. My dad could just chill in retirement, my mom, always wants to do something like gardening, cooking, clean the house, help out at her old job. But, at the same time, she'll say, oh, I haven't see you in so long to people she knows. I always remind her that you can see them. You just need to make time as you have up to 2 pm until you need to pick up your grandchild.

He's been making suspect moves since the lockout - which was 20(!) years ago. It took two GMs to remake the Devils. Hope Islanders fans are prepared.

I think most of his trades over his career have been suspect, and most of his success in New Jersey was a result of Dave Conte's drafting.

Ehh, I BIG time disagree with the praise for Conte. And I have plenty of rounds to fire off at Lou.

Conte deserves credit for picks like Brodeur, Niedermayer and Elias, as well as quite a few others in the 90s.

But another reason the Devils empire couldn't win shit after the lockout and absolutely imploded by 2013 was because Conte didn't have it anymore.

After Zach Parise in 2003 and MAYBE Travis Zajac in 2004 (if you even consider him) the closest thing to an impact player the Devils drafted was Adam Henrique in 2008. There were a couple who went on the have pretty long NHL careers, but Conte was losing it by the late 90s.

In fact, Lou and Conte WHIFFED on some really awful picks in the late 90s. And also drafted two goalies in the first round (Damphousse in 1997, Ahonen in 1999) who saw little to no NHL time (zero for Ahonen) with the big club or ANY national hockey league clubs.

Conte has been asleep at the wheel arguably even longer than Lou has.

And Lou had several big time trades during his first 15 years with the Devils that were impactful to winning the cup. He pretty much lost it after that.

He built some great shortened-season COVID teams.

The shine has worn off and he continues that same approach. 4 seasons after the second straight ECF run, it is pretty apparent that roster construction approach is not sustainable for 82 games + playoffs.

Thanks for the memories but your time has come. Time marches on, it waits for no one.

I'm not sure if Lou is blasted with a playoff miss this year.

People keep joking that Lou will not sell this year, but if he refuses to sell then they need to fire him next week and let someone else handle the deadline.

I'm not saying Conte was amazing his entire career, just that Conte picking Brodeur, Neidermeyer, Elias and quite a few others in the 90s is what won Lou's Cups, not really anything Lou was doing with trades or UFAs. Lou's best move as GM seems to have been asking an arbitrator to award the Devils Scott Stevens as compensation after St Louis signed Shanahan to an offer sheet without having the required 1st round picks. Looking back through his trades, he added some decent complementary pieces to the core, but the draft picks from Conte were doing the majority of the heavy lifting on the Cup teams. I guess he also deserves some credit for trading Tom Kurvers for the pick for Neidermeyer, but there was a bit of luck involved in that too.

Back to back GM of the year made me realize the award was not worth much. A narrative award more than anything. Hiring Trots earned him those. Outside of that he made horrendous trades and gave out horrendous contracts.

I thought he did a good job setting the table for the Leafs rebuild/overhaul. Except the Marleau contract.
