UFA market seems like crap. Every team gets $8.5M extra to spend and they also know there is another $9.5M growth coming the year after.

What targets does your team have heading to the summer to improve your team?

Leafs might go after Raddysh or Tuch.

I forgot about Tuch. He's going to be sought after if the Sabres don't extend him.

Here are the list of UFA's

Lots of targets the sharks could go for. First and foremost we need to address defense. Specifically RHD.

We have Orlov and Dickinson signed, but need to RFA Muk who can play his off side and resign UFA Desharnais.
Bye bye Leddy, Klingberg and hello short term offers for one of Trouba, Carlsson, Andersson or Maybe even burnsy for a farewell final season.

But one thing they should try to do immediately is a Celebrini and Smith extension to see where we will stand in the coming years. I am hoping he will take a discount and sign cheaper, but Celebrini could ask for 18m a season for max term and I would give it to him.

Graf is up for his first RFA contract and its hard to say what he will earn. My guess is 5m. He's an excellent Pker, defensive forward and has some scoring touch if moved up top 6.

If Dellandrea will resign much cheaper, I'd keep him for the bottom 6 and PK. but if he wants more than 3.5m he walks. Ostapchuk isn't a bad 4th liner so we can tender him and RFA offer.

Kurashev and Reaves can walk. We have a kids like Chernyshov I want to see full time NHL, and Musty/Bystedt waiting for shots. I can't wait for Goodrow to be gone a year later lol.

if Ferraro wants a payday, he walks.

Not sure if Cagnoni and Pohlkamp will be NHL material, but they should get a look.

Eklund should be a trade piece for a D if one can be acquired. I love him, but with Celebrini/Misa/smith/Chernyshov he has become expendable to fill our gaping hole at D.

Misa's emergence lately had me convinced he will be 2C sooner than expected and Wennberg can drift to 3C ahead of schedule.

Graf/Celebrini/Smith
Chernyshov/Misa/Toffoli
????/Wennberg/Sherwood
Gaudette/Ostapchuk/Dellandrea
Goodrow?

Orlov/?????
?????/Mukhamadullin
Dickinson/Desharnais

Askarov
Nedejkovic

SENS offseason moves I'd like to see:

Re-sign Giroux, Cousins, and Halliday.
Let Jensen, Reimer, and Eller walk

Sign David Rittich as a backup

See if RD Trouba, Andersson, or Carlson have any interest in signing with us (probably not) and eventually trade Jordan Spence+ for a partner for Chabot.

The free agent class is terrible. If anything more hockey trades should happen because of it.

Agreed. I think we are going to see some wild stuff.
* Not many teams fully rebuilding.
* Many teams with reset/retool strategy
* Contenders always looking to add.
* Weak UFA market with $8.5M of extra cap for GM's to burn. haha

Leafs might go after Raddysh or Tuch.

I know they're very different players... But letting Marner go only to turn around and use the money you saved on Tuch a year later kinda seems like foolish management.

Wasn't the whole point to use that cap saved to bolster depth and defense?

At forward I would love to land Tuch and on defense for ffs please try and get a PP QB that can provide more than the Morgan Rielly muffin shots.

I am sure Raddysh would be their primary target to bolster the D. They really need a pp quarterback on D with a great shot.

Someone will throw a bank at Tuch and regret it in 3 years.

#confirmed #hockeyyinsiderr

Very possible. It will be a 30-36 contract more likely. We have seen that before.... someone with great 20's and signs the big deal at 30+.

Tuch was on a value contract and there is lots of extra cap. His agent's job will be very easy this summer... he's got all the leverage. There is no value deal there with Tuch... the guy wants to get paid.

I dont see Tuch choosing to sign in TO. He will definately stay in the US somewhere. Most likely stay in Buffalo

This is why I think the Leafs are in a tough spot. Not even ROR wanted to stay. Fans/media too hard on their players and the core is thinner/older than before. Not easy to convince talent to come now. I know all about this as a Habs fan from before when we had a middle of the pack team with Bergevin and nobody wanted to sign with us. Our market of media/fans is just as crazy as the Leafs. Our management has done a good job at containing the aggression and they don't alienate players regardless of how they are trending. Alienating players only applies to frustration... there is no real value that comes from it.

If the Leafs can do an effective retool/reset, I'll be very impressed.

For the avalanche. Money will be used for makar extension.

How much cap space do you think the Avs have after the Markar extension? UFA after next season.

You will have cap room to add a player for one year? Avs are always a team to watch out for. Not afraid to make moves

They have had less success than the Thornton Sharks, who were considered massive chokers with 3 conference finals and a finals appearance.

I'd say the fanbase/Media is a little within their rights to be hard on the leafs considering they almost went 20 years without winning a single playoff round and have not gotten past the 2nd round twice with this core in the past 10 years and now they appear to be deflating out of their primes, Core members leaving, with no hope coming.

9 years of that core is around when the sharks were reverse swept by the Kings and then missed the playoffs the next year media everywhere was ripping them to shreds mercilessly forevermore lol. A year later the sharks went to the finals and ran into Crosby's Penguins in god mode.

Can the leafs make some Doug Wilson style blockbuster trades? because they have little in the prospect pipeline

Think the Avs will be pretty quiet

bring Burns back if his iron man streak is alive on another low AAV bonus heavy deal

move out Colton to add cap space for some depth at #6 and #7 D (LHS probably for both)

Think they will promote a few of their AHL fwds to start the season and then fill in if needed over the course of the year.

You just said the Sharks and 3 conference finals and finals appearance. How does that apply to the Leafs?

Fan/Media aggression can be a distraction to the team. I got a lot of Leafs fans as friends here in Halifax. I said this for a while now to them... the blame belongs to BS and KD. You gave the GM job to a kid learning on the job at the most important time in franchise history. WTF was BS thinking? I actually think Dubas is a better GM today with the Pens but the cost of learning came at the Leafs expense.

Tampa was a struggling team with their young core back when. What did they do? They kept the core in tack and added the right pieces around them. What did the Leafs do? They failed to address the flaws and the fans/media blamed the stars. My advise is you need to create a different culture and alienating players is not a solution. It hurts the team's energy and makes players not want to play there.

I do think the stars deserve some heat for going after max deals. I find this is a mixture of bad management and a little bit of bad luck. Covid cap growth did derail things but at the same time, Dubas did overpay. No way that would have happened with Lou.

You would have probably done better with Lou and Babcock. Old fashioned but better than what you got right now.. they know hockey bud. They knew what offense brings and they knew what defense/grit needs provides in the playoffs!

Babcock quote: "We will see if our depth is as good as we say it is" Direct shot at Dubas and bet you this was a spin from an internal conversation/debate.

Funny because the Habs are in a similar spot now. We got a good offensive team but lack grit and good team D. Lets see how long that lingers on
