Honestly... I can see how disheartening that can be for players. Put a lot of effort in and you get a goal. Good. But then the other team just needs one chance and it's the same score on the board.

Yes. Playing with consistently shaky goaltending is the most deflating thing I've ever experienced in hockey, and it causes people to lose trust in the system and each other, doing things to overcompensate, which only exacerbates the problem.
