Sorry for the abbreviated GDT. I have obligations this morning, I will try to get the team panels up later in the afternoon.

Rangers will be going with Talbot tonight.

Cameron Talbot
New York Rangers

Talbot starts Tuesday vs. the Kings.

Talbot made 36 saves on 38 shots in the Rangers dominant 7-2 win over the Ducks on Sunday. He has won five of his last six starts while posting a 1.32 GAA and .959 SV%. Henrik Lundqvist returned to practice on Tuesday, but they won’t rush him back the way Talbot is playing. Talbot has gone 9-1-3 with a 1.64 GAA and .943 SV% at home this season.

Rangers actually got better from last year. Hoping LA brings their best game and makes a statement here. Gonna be tough on a back to back against a team that seems to be rolling.

they need to play like they played in the first last night for any hope...i just thank the lucky stars this year's first is protected.

they've gotten alot better
They’re better than last year, but by how much?

Through 71 games this season, the Rangers have 99 points and a league-best plus-54 goal differential. Through 71 games last season, the Rangers had 80 points and a goal differential of plus-13. That alone suggests dramatic improvement.

The Rangers are just an average possession team this season, with a Corsi for percentage of 50.3 percent. That’s actually down from last season’s 52.4 percent. Since the trade deadline, the Rangers are even lower, at 46.9 percent.

They also have a league-high PDO -- the summation of shooting and save percentages, which is a proxy for "puck luck" -- of 101.9, inflated in part because of an even-strength save percentage of .933. But considering that Henrik Lundqvist and Cam Talbot are their two goalies, it’s quite possible New York will maintain that number. Last season, the Rangers finished No. 4 in the league in even-strength save percentage, at .931.

It’s the 8.7 even-strength shooting percentage that might be tough to maintain come playoff time. Last season, the Rangers finished No. 28 in the league with a shooting percentage of 6.7.

.700 hockey. That's what the Kings need. So, technically not a "must win", but the Kings can only drop 6 points of their remaining 10 games if they want a shot at the post-season.

Gearing up for a slump-fest, personally :/

Game of the year baby.

Rangers are awesome and we'll be getting up for it. Clash of the titans.

Let's knock the Rags back to earth. I don't know who made their schedule but they have the most games against teams playing the night before that I have ever seen.

GKG!

So Rangers/Islander/Min/Chicago... and 2 points out.... get your favorite adult beverage ready for this next stretch...

Well it's actually 3 points out since the Kings won't have the tie breaker...

I have little confidence at this point. The only way I see the Kings getting in the playoffs is if Calgary, Vancouver, or Winnipeg go on a major slide.

Yup, if LA can get through the next four games the schedule becomes alot easier.
