Further to that, DailyFaceoff:

Mitchell is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Mitchell must have suffered the injury on Tuesday vs. the Islanders. He will miss out on the chance to play against his former team with the Kings in town tonight. With Mitchell out, Steven Kampfer has been recalled and will be in the lineup tonight.

I was dreading having to watch the Kings play against Mitchell. Sorry to hear he's injured but, relieved that he won't be on the ice tonight.
I'm thinking the KIngs just might finally get a win on the road. They have to be so embarrassed at how they've been looking, they have to turn things around soon. I'm not even thinking playoffs; to me, it's all about their self pride.

My team please win... hell, I can't even finish the traditional post. I am overwhelmed with "meh", following the example of the players.

17-8-7 from here out? *thunk*

BOLLAND. make his life miserable. 2 GOALS on the year. that's about 3 million dollars per goal. Everyone should run him. I went back and watched his hit on MR in 2013... give him some of his own shenanigans. Stolly instead of a trip in the ozone how bout some elbowing on a line change or something. **** that guy. 38 points in the last three years combined. Richie's contract looks like a bargain but I guess perennial bottom dwellers can afford to shell out for that kind of production.

*Deep breath

Also, a win would be nice. Essential even. But at least play with some fire in your belly against a team with BOTH the players that effectively ended Richards (S. Bergenheim).

injury bolland would just do the panthers a favor as he could go on LTIR.

If the team doesn't win tonight, I blame the SI Curse placed on Kopi. I am still skeptical about tanking for McDavid, especially when more teams are ahead of the Kings in that department.

Either way, GO KINGS GO!

I don't care about the Panthers. We don't play against them for another 10 months or so I would think. If he has any pride at all, it'd be pretty embarrassing to end up back there. We don't have to injure him, I just want to see some anger. Wouldn't be surprised if Carter gets in his face, if that's the matchup.

Need to show up tonight and play like they mean it. Er, this afternoon. Love the early games, at least in principle. Be nice to have some points to show for em once in a while.

I'm surprised someone hasn't called this a "season defining game" yet. That's been the story line going into every game for the last month or so. I'm expecting the Kings to lay a giant goose egg again tonight. The Capitals game was an embarrassment. Not expecting anything else.

If kopitar/Carter are kept off the board again, it will be another loss.

Until those two top Centers start scoring on the road, the Kings are screwed.

Holy ****. 5.5 mil/year for a guy that has never had more than 20 goals or 47 points. That's insane. Some people think we have serious issues with spending???

If someone on our team did the exact same thing he did to Richards, our player would be suspended. Blatant charge and head contact. Pretty much the Seabrook on Backes hit.

wouldn't it be nice if LA got the first goal and kept the lead throughout the game!!
I know I am dreaming too big right

5 years/27.5 million. Head scratcher from the get-go.

I'm sure we're all thinking it. I'm sure we're all hoping for it. Like you said though, with the way the Kings haven't put consecutive wins together in forever, with as flat as they came out against the Caps, with the multiple times the team has given up 3 goals in 5 minutes of play, with Kopitar and Carter absent on the road, with another game tonight that the Kings could easily sleep through because the Panthers aren't one of a handful of Western teams that the Kings seem to remember play hockey in the NHL, and with where they are in the standings right now, we're all just waiting. Does the season continue to slowly slip by, or can they put a winning streak together?

Hey, let's be consistent one way or the other. Win a lot from now on or lose every game from now on!

With all this depression in the pre-game, watch the Kings look like Stanley Cup dominators again... only to fall back to the "meh" the next game once people's hopes are back up.

That's been the problem  Go from beating the Hawks and looking good vs. the super-hot bruins to lounging around vs. the Caps. If we were to win 4-0 today, I bet we'd just lose the next 3. That's the issue.

And as far as the 'season defining game' the problem is we keep hoping that happens too...thought it was taht victory vs. the sharks, then the hawks coming out of this break...

It's simply, Kopitar/Carter.

This roster can't win when those two guys disappear. The Kings don't have the scoring depth.

Teams are making the Kings defense/bottom six beat them, They will be damned if they let Kopitar/Carter beat em.

It's working, the road stats speak for themselves.
