Is it possible that the Habs are enjying the longest break between 2 playoff rounds in NHL history?

It's crazy how quick they finished off the Lightning. No, it's not the first and certainly not the last time a team gets sweeped in the NHL playoffs. But when you consider how the TB/MTL series was by far the fastest one to get to a game 4 (NYR/Philly only made it to game 4 friday in comparison) - is it possible that this will be the longest break a team has had in between rounds in NHL history?

I know a lot of games 7 are scheduled for next wednesday - of course, my argument is only valid shold at least one of those wednesday games 7 materialize so that round 2 starts at the earliest 1-2 days after that day.

Does anyone have any actual stats or info on what the longest break was in the history of the NHL? Seeing as how The Habs/TBL series was the first of all 8 playoffs to make it to a game 4, I have to think they're close to the record.

I know in the grand scheme of things, it's probably not worth much, but for some reason if it turns out that it *is* a record I think it's pretty cool. It's already been 4 days, and none of the other series are done yet, and to be honnest, except for *maybe* Boston/San Jose, it looks like a lot of the other series might go the distance, or close.

Very cool of the Habs. Thoughts?

I was thinking last night that it is Spring, I have no hockey to watch except other teams playing Stanley Cup Playoffs, and that this feeling is very familiar. :(

The playoff format now is stupid and I hope in the off season they agree to revert back.

There should be 4 games one night, 4 games the following. Everyone should start at the same time and end the same as well.

I find it absurd that Boston didn't play their 1st game until Habs/TB was in game 3 (if not mistaken).

Joke of a league.

I think it has nothing to do with new or old format. Bostons arena may have been booked.

We're not only the only team to sweep their opponents, but it just so happens that game 4 in our series was the earliest game 4 of all eight of the series'No other team played game 4 until Wednesday night whereas we were done with Tampa on Tuesday.

I'm also sure at least 2 or 3 series will go 7 games, so we'll be refreshed to an unparalleled level during the playoffs. Here's hoping it doesn't affect our momentum though.

Bruins played their first game we were on game 2. We started wednesday, they started friday.

Going back to my original post - does anyone actually have an answer to the question? What is the longest break in NHL history between the end of Round 1 and start of Round 2 for a team.

Seeing how quick game 4 came for the Mtl/Tampa series in relation to other series, I'm really curious to see if we might achieve a record this year.

If anyone is able to find this stat would be really curious for the answer.

Mhe it's good to let anything that ails the players to heal up but I just hope they don't come out rusty. This is where having all those guys from the AHL might come in usefull to have some full on scrimages to keep the game feel.

Bruins will have 5-6 days rest which is perfect imo, and they wont be rusty. A week and a half, way too long, cant be good for the Habs, unless key players had some serious injuries or something.

So is there any word on a potential start date for Rd 2? I heard about a tentative Thursday. Any truth to that?

Good news after a long break is the first 2 games are in Boston. The Habs can play a boring style road game and not get too fancy while shaking off the ring rust.

I think having the time off is beneficial, especially before going against the Bruins in what will be a very physical and emotionally draining series. Going in with the energy and health meters near 100% is a great thing for the Habs who will need that to get past the best team in the NHL.

I can't remember ever waiting this long...guess it's because the Habs win series in 6 or 7 games. It feels like we got eliminated. LOL.

I think we will have the unparalleled situation of BOTH teams being rusty/sloppy and off their game. I dont think I have ever seen that before in 35+ years of watching hockey!

Dude... close to half the teams in the league are sharing arenas with the NBA. FYI, NBA playoffs are on right now. And then there are the TV networks to contend with. I don't know if you've ever noticed this about life, it's kinda hard to please everyone. And the more complicated a situation is, the harder it is to please everyone.

Come on now, are we going to spin a Habs wheel of excuses? "Too long between games"?
