I think Rod wants the defense first centers up first in the playoffs. I could see Kuzy being the fourth line sneak attacker, which would fit his fitness level maybe. Especially if we go long. Kuzy seemed determined to make a difference even with the lesser role and Drury/Noesen are good linemates for him. I could see them staying together and maybe getting more ice time at the right moments. Kuzy makes that second pp a lot more dangerous as well, as long as we keep him away from the blue line…
Probably the funniest moment of the game, when he took the puck at the blueline he looked like, "oh yes, I have you now you fools" and then immediately turned it over

Liking me Playoff Kuzy already. He's clearly not in the best shape, but I can tell he likes the clutch situations.
In my opinion if the Canes win the cup it will be because of Kuzy. Of course you have no chance without the Aho line producing BUT you cant expect that line to score all the big goals so you have to have another line contribute. Tonight is a good example.

Kuzy also adds… I guess you could call it “line appropriate skill” to the Drury/Noesen combo whom I love. I didn’t mind Necas with them because I had pigeonholed Drury in as a center, but I think the Drury-Kuzy-Noesen combo is probably the optimal 4th line for the available roster and lets the top 9 have a lot more chemistry without having to try to shove one of Drury or Kuzy into a spot they don’t belong.

I’ll be the one to say it - Fast is great and I love him but the lines, on paper, look better with him as the odd man out rather than Kotkaniemi.

I attend game. Canes win. Think that's 11 straight wins when I attend.

That will probably be the worst version of the Canes the Isles see and they couldn't seize it. Not pretty but I think it bodes well.

Great to see Kuzy have a good performance as I've said he looks a bit better to me than the numbers suggest. Svech looked good. Jarvy had some nice moments. Freddie had his shaky moments but came up big as well. Build on the third when they started to look better and things will go well.

We should attend the same non playoff game and see whose voodoo magic is stronger

What a weird game. An staggering amount of strange unforced errors from us when not under pressure - falling down on normal turns, airborne/bouncing pucks on everyday passes to open teammates - again when not under pressure ... but hell, Anderson bailed us out and we did enough in front of Varlamov to get the win. We'll take it!

Man, it’s an empty netter to make it 3-1. That’s a very reasonable take from them lol. If we’re gonna even begin to defend “that’s wasn’t a sweep” from RBA… Isles fans saying it was effectively a 1 goal game is perfectly reasonable.

Yeah, I thought it was generally accepted that ENGs don't really count with regards to the final score of the game.

So it's correct to say that it was essentially a 1-goal game.

on the flip side, it kills their late period push and seals the win

The Canes are now 39-0 with me in attendance over a period of 18 years lol. (I'll admit I didn't go to a single game between 2011 and 2019)

Not for sportsbooks that empty netter won me 4000$

I agree with something posted on the main board GDT — this was like a regular season win where the better team wins by an apparently small margin without necessarily looking “better”.

Neither team brought playoff hockey. It will keep getting harder from here.
