London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

Right now it is possible to move a few players in the summer a build a bit of a war chest to pursue Edgar, it would just have to wait till August to get the pieces together.

I could see the Knights retooling and building around the 08 group while remaining strongly competitive next year.

Alright perhaps a bit early to talk about this one BUT if Sam Dickinson is returned to the Knights next year do we keep him or possibly look at moving him? Pretty sure Sam is in the ridiculous position of not being eligible to play in the AHL next season due to his age, draft year etc. Perhaps I am wrong and for his development I actually hope that I am. Even though London is the best place for a kid to develop there is absolutely nothing the OHL or the Knights can offer him other than a place to play hockey for a year. I believe (in confidence) that Mark and Dale would agree in this case.
If however he is forced back to us (a real possibility) what assets would this young man recoup for the Knights? OMG LDN the possibilities are endless ….. start your engines my friend!
If SD3 is returned and Jett Luchanko is returned to Guelph. I think Jett ends up in a Knights uni. I think we would be looking at a pretty damn good team if we had Jett, and Sam^2.

Wow! We could get EVERY player in the OHL on our team all at once!

Front Door vs Back Door is a whole other argument. But agreed players, fans and management want the front door all day long. Last time we hosted it was a bit embarrassing as we actually had a weak (well by London standards) team and had no right being in that tournament. Believe the scores reflected that as well, although London of course made a great host city for the Memorial Cup.
Naw, the team came down with Zadorovitis. Everyone wanted to be elsewhere.

I think the Memorial Cup is a showcase and a chance to honour our Veterans. I really think the importance of winning the OHL or the other two conferences is more relevant. The short round robin tournament series not always the best team wins but the luckiest. Windsor winning after they had a month to heal is an example of a well rested good team winning. Erie was much better but were beaten up and tired from grueling playoffs.
I would much better see a best of 5 series. The host team would draw one of the winners of the other two conferences. It would be then that a true champion would emerge. However that would make the season too long for these kids.
If Knights don’t win Memorial Cup they still are Champs to me.

Don't have enough picks and besides it will be a retool year with all of the players graduating
If by chance we are fortunate to have Sam back then it will not be a retool year. There's a chance we could also have Allen back as an OA on D. Having a D core like that would be huge and Mark will find a way to fill in some If the gaps. Will the Knights be the team they were the past 3 years...no I do not think so but they will be competitive. We will once again be playing the waiting game during the first 10 NHL games for Sam. The possibility of having these six D would be great. I have not seen Mitchell enough but what I've heard I like. We also have a ton of young good forwards. I think a couple moves up front and we are in the top 4 of the conference. It will be a very fun year.

If Allen and Dickinson are not back it will be a different scenario....but still fun. Mark will be hard at work filling in the holes.

Dickinson - Brzustewicz
Allen - Woolley
Fagan - Femis/Mitchell

Corey Perry opens the scoring in game 5. Hall of fame?

Easy. It's the hockey HOF. He has been a huge piece and very accomplished in CHL and Memorial Cup winner, WJC champ, WC champ, NHL seasons with almost 1400 GP, 900+pts and 1400+PIMs (that's approaching DH #s) Stanley Cup champ, Olympic champ(s).......
Multi Stanley cup appearances 4/5, League MVP, 50 G scorer......
If he isn't a lock, something is wrong.

Now get Mogilny in there also. Not a Sabres or Leafs fan but that's a joke lol

I secretly want Corey Perry to hit 1000 points and 500 goals before he retires. However, in a recent interview on Sportsnet with his son, his son said that Blakeny (Corey’s wife) only wants him to play one more year.

However, Corey has stated he wants to play until 45 lol. So hopefully he gets his wish but I don’t have a wife so I don’t know how likely that is lol!

I don't think it's a slam dunk. Probably at some point but Keith Tkachuk has 500+ goals 1000 points and still not in. Zetterburg isn't either as well you mentioned Mogilny. It's the HOF not the hall of good.

Big game tonight. The boys will either do it or they won’t. If they don’t they are still repeat OHL champions. Let’s all cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Theo Fleury is overdue as well.

The HOF makes no sense to me at times.

Before JR got in, my argument against the Sedin twins and Alfie inductions, was:

Who would you rather go into the playoffs with on your roster?

The Sedin twins, and Daniel Alfredson?

Or,

JR, Mogilny and Theo Fleury?

I know who I’d pick and it wouldn’t be the Swedes.

Suppose now that JR has been inducted, I can swap out his name for Rod Brind’Amour.

Well! London has a significant task ahead of them tonight; the planning ought to have been completed long ago.

That big prize is for another day. The tin silver cup is not for tonight; their mission is not yet accomplished, and the time to focus is now. Tonight, the road has to go through Moncton, there are no other roads available to get there.
