London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

Are you new to hockey? A great game doesn’t mean putting up points but it seems that you only think a player is good when they are putting up 5 points a game.

Barkey has been fanastic the past 2 games. He’s playing well defensively, blocking shots, making plays.
You new to hockey we didn’t SCORE more goals tonight and lost. Those “little thing’s” meant Jack shit tonight

Well, maybe Dale has a phantom line for the next game, with all the combinations he worked with all season

They could be putting some extra pressure on themselves, possibly by over thinking their plays and gripping the sticks too tight. What ever it is, they need to work it out fast, this is a short Tourney. How about putting a line that had a little surprised success, like the night Van Gorp, Nicholl and Read had a combine 12 pts outing against Guelph. At one time in the first, they were leading 9-1 in shots by the 6th minute mark, and the period ended 10-7.

The offence is in a slump right now, it could be time for Dale to bring out the magic, or it will be over quick.

I don’t think the effort level was poor. The other team is quite good too. And their goalie was exceptional. But London’s lack of offence this tournament is alarming.
Couldn't agree more. Methinks the pressure they have put on themselves this season is starting to get to them. And ffs, please practice shooting pucks on net in prep for Friday. I can't count how may chances we had that we either shot wide, over the net or whiffed altogether. And how about shooting high on breakaways instead of always trying to finesse the puck through the goalies legs? Frustrating game to watch. Outchanced them but couldn't bury our chances. We got beat by their 3rd and 4th lines ffs.

Looks like last year’s loss is weighing on them a little more than would ever admit (and rightly so) and they are gripping their sticks a little too tight as well as overthinking their plays. They need to get more than a 1 goal lead in the next game, relax and play like they are capable of. Also they have to find a way to win more faceoffs. It's easier to play if you are not chasing the puck. I’m pretty sure Friday night will look better than tonight.

Last year was a huge missed opportunity. As good as this org has been, their Memorial Cup track record is average at best.

I would like to agree with you that Friday will look different but London has 6 goals excluding empty nets in 3 games. This is while controlling most of the play in all 3 games. Not good.

SW Ontario emergency units having a spike in ankle, foot, knee injuries with all the bandwagon flopping

No injuries. No flopping. Just the facts in the 3 games. Effort definitely there.Defensive part of the game excellent. Goaltending top notch. Refs are refs. PK also very good. But not scoring in the tournament so far definitely a reality. Many chances. Not many goals. And yes time will tell.

Wow. Relax.

Do you expect perfection from everyone in your life like you do teenagers playing a game?

You woke up this morning just the same if the Knights won or lost. ITS JUST A GAME.

It was not a poor effort. They carried the play most of the game but just couldn’t bury their chances. They ran into a hot goalie. It happens. They will be ready Friday.

I thought the Knights played well last night. MH also played well and got some puck luck and the Knights did not. That said, we do need to bury our chances (we easily could have been up 3 or 4 after the 1st) and get some level of secondary scoring. IMO, the prolonged TV time outs really hurt the Knights as their depth players play a lot less and thus don't get into a flow. That has been the Knights strength all year and it's negated somewhat by the TSN coverage.

Regarding lack of scoring, with the exception of the first game of the tournament, all games have been very close and low scoring. No team is lighting it up which is a testament to the quality of the teams this year and the emphasis on defense by each team. These are the top four teams in the country. I am not surprised these games are close and that the Knights aren't blowing everyone out.

Friday should be a good game and perhaps a bit of adversity will be good for them.

If they play MH in the final, I hope they revisit their scouting on their goalie as five hole was not working.

Piss poor effort
The whining on this board for the entire tournament has reached top level.

Refs suck, commentators suck, team sucks.

People are forgetting that this tournament has the best 4 teams in the country. You're not going to score 8 goals a game. How about giving credit where credit is due? Medicine Hat is a very strong team.

Knights fans suck

Watching this tournament as a overall OHL fan, London is the most dominant team without a doubt. Medicine Hat goaltending and missed chances l believe lead to their loss. I would not be to worried, this team is a machine and still the heavy favourite

Really seems like some London Knights fans on here are not used to losing games because whenever they do it is like the world is ending. Don't worry you guys have a great team and this tournament is VERY tight but you guys do have the team that it takes to win it. But even if you don't you guys should still be proud of your teams season.

Wow can’t believe how many odd man rushes we have got So many good chances. Just like the first 2 games these 3 teams played all rely on there goalies to keep them in it hasn’t worked yet. We need another big 3rd ! Go Knights !
Agreed and that was our failure last night just put the puck in the net boys! Should have been up by three at the end of the first and it came back to bite us once MH got their legs going. Come on boys be selfish and cash in! Still think we are the team to beat without debate!

Hate to be negative but you cannot head into these tournaments with offence lacking. Lots of people wanted an elite forward added at the deadline but that was frowned upon on here. Well you lose 1 goal games at these times. Happened several times in past Memorial Cups to London. Disappointing. Congratulations to Medicine Hat. They are in the driver’s seat.
Ya, Jett Luchanko’s speed and playmaking would have opened up the ice a lot more. I know it would have cost us Hawery and Read, but then having O’Rielly, Cowan and Barkey on the first line, BMO, Jett and Halttunen on a second line is deadly. Then we have Julien, Nicholl and Nurmi on the 3rd line.

Also you gotta get some garbage goals. Your’re not always gonna get the perfect play.

This is accurate. Some new fans only know winning hockey so when the Knights lose a game, it is hard to swallow. Some fans aren't happy unless the Knights go 68-0 in the regular season and 16-0 in the playoffs. That is impossible to do.

Hockey is just a game so just enjoy watching and cheering on your team win or lose.

Well, some of them anyway

Yet, we went 16-1 in the OHL playoffs without JL and without mortgaging our future. The tournament isn't over yet.

What are you talking about. We out played them we ran into a hot goaltender ( who let in 5 his first game ) that’s it .
We had tons of good chances , ringed the post cross bar numerous times . there so called great power play sucked . 98% of there shots on net were garbage from the outside they are lucky this game wasn’t 5-2.
How they made it this far letting that many breakaways and 2 on 1s and grade a shots from in front of the net I’ll never know . Knights have some work to do but this loss just like the Oshawa loss will be a wake up call . All the pressure on Med hat now. They sit and wait knowing they were outplayed and will get outplayed in the final .
