London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

The officials in the CHL are part time and not professionals. To ensure that there is no league or team bias the Memorial Cup should use NHL refs not working in the playoffs. There would remove the inconsistent and favourable officiating we see in the tournament every year.

Many of the referees at the NHL level graduated from the CHL. If there actually is league or team bias among CHL referees, real or imagined, you would think that CHL referee graduates would not have lost or forgotten their alleged league or team bias.

And, if you ask NHL fans, there’s some sketchy refereeing going on at the NHL level as well these days - real or imagined.

Why don't they use NHL players while at it ? CHL develop refs too !

Should be a great match up tonight, this has been a stellar tournament!

Knights are in an excellent position, win and go to Sunday, lose and still go to the semifinal.

I think they should have focused a bit more on getting the puck out in practice, these are championship teams that are doing a much better job at hemming us in. Icing the puck is better than being caught at the blue line.

As for the offensive zone, keep shooting pucks. Can’t wait too long for the perfect pass.

Go Knights Go!!!!

NHL ref Justin Kea was in town for the Memorial Cup last year as a Spirit alum, I said hi to him at the cup arrival dinner. Just think if he had been wearing the orange armband...with that and Hache's dad, these boards may have exploded :)

NHL refs would never do that. The lowest paid NHL ref makes $165k/yr. The Memorial Cup isn't worth their time or money.

Players are indeed distracted when penalty calls are inconsistent. Their inability to distinguish between what is called and what is not does have an impact on their ability to play. London's game against Rimouski is an example, they were unable to move with complete confidence because of their concerned about potential calls from the referees. This can also explain why the close games, when it really shouldn't have been.

The leagues and hockey networks, preferably, they would like close games to generate more attention from a wider viewing audience. Knight's problem started on the first game of the final with TSN first telecast of the series. Now, I don't know if it is rigged or not, I am just throwing this out there for discussions.

It just seems more than in the past officials “manage” games based on the score and/or which team they feel may have a disadvantage to their opponent. Their job should be to call the game as it is being played regardless of the score or which two teams are playing.

Play thru it. Even after winning the O n being 2-0 on the Memorial Cup the biggest topic is stripes. Whinning about it as the #1 topic when 2-0, OHL champs and everything undr your control moving forward......... waste of time.
I miss hockey talk.
Nice adjustment on breakouts thru the course of the POs. Each series minor adj made. Or some larger ones..... Eg. vs Shwa flip it out n let the Fs chase it down (the Ole FO pass lol) then game 1 vs Moncton the D would stretch pass to a F in the centre of ice in Monctons side of the nuetral zone by their blueline......

Just a guess but does MH have last change?
If so Ai keep the top 3 lines balanced n try n get JJ line out as often as possible vs Mcnextnext one. Should be fun

Will be one hell of a game tonight. Pretty excited to see Cowan vs McKenna and obviously Willy D a former NHL head coach vs Dale

Medicine does have last change.

It’ll be interesting to see if London can slow down the Tigers in the neutral zone. Lots of weapons and quick transition I’ve seen from the Tigers so far. Go Knights.

Carried the play for the most part but wasted a lot of good scoring chances. Defensive play was very good as was the PK. Just have to bury more of their chances.
