London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

I'll preface this with, I am a Generals fan.

FIrst of all, Sim will be in. For those not in attendance on Tuesday, there are a few telling factors. For reference I sit behind the opposing bench a few rows up.
1. Following the hit, Sim's initial response was to look for the ref. Once he saw his hand up, he immediately started to hold his right knee.
2. Once he got up, he was favouring his left knee, and as he got off the ice, was joking with the trainer. They both were chuckling as he left the ice.
3. As Bonk returned from talking to the refs following the hit, he was making the diving motion with his hand towards the bench. Indicating the refs believed it was embellishment.
4. Sim returned to the bench, immediately after the penalty expired. He and Cowan were then laughing on the bench.

I have not seen a replay, so from my perspective, it did not look like more than a trip and dive. He tried to avoid the hit, Gibson & Sim collided, but I didn't think that Gibson changed his knee's position from how he initially tried to make contact. Again, I have not seen a replay.
Unfortunately, for Sim, he's clearly been marked as a player known to embellish and this is one of those situations. And with his return to the bench, the officials noticed it. So, another reason there wouldn't be a suspension, because that is the OHL.

Now as a Generals fan with a legit question for London fans. Knowing that Gibson is either Oshawa's #1 or #2 defenseman. Would you rather win having beat the full line up or down a key member? Last year the Generals were down two big players and that was the main reason they didn't stand a chance. This year, the generals have a full line up and have competed to at least make this interesting. I've said from the start, I believe London would win in 6. They are better than Oshawa, but Oshawa is a competitive team.
Oshawa was given the same opportunity in 2015 when McDavid hit a fan with a stick post game. The generals decided they wanted to win and beat McDavid.

Also, as a note in reading most of the comments in regards to missed calls. There have been an absolute ton in this series. Including some very dirty plays by both sides, worthy of suspensions. And the diving on both sides has been atrocious. I try to be impartial, and I know I'm not entirely, I'm just trying to give some honest feedback.
Tell us, fan of the game ! Is there a rule, any rules, that prohibit a player from looking at a referee, even after being hurt by an adversary ?

Fans can interpret it anyway they wish, it does not conclude an infraction wasn't committed on Sim. The very same player was penalized for eating a metal stick from an opponent, at the time he didn't even look at the refs, he went straight to his bench for some medical attention.

And by the way ! Every one of your argument were previously discussed on this channel the past two years. Similar incident, Woolley is the most recent, like you say, his recipient tried to get out of the way, like Sim did. Most of them, resulted in London players receiving 5-minutes, out of games and suspensions, pretty darn near every one of them.

Some goods points here...but your forgetting Knights without their best player all series.

I knew someone would catch it.
When ya still rip 6/game last 3 it's easy to forget the team is missing one the better offensive players and top 5 PK F in the league and the player makes the PP go by having it run threw him.
I can see why opponents fans n broadcasters forget ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It would be an extremely rare occasion any of these kids embellish when they are injured. They are all extremely competitive or they wouldn't be in the league. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt every time. If it does happen that they aren't seriously injured and can come back that game or next, count that as fortunate.

I agree, Rangersblues !

As I commented at the time of Woolley's hit on Romano, the hitter must be fully aware of where he is hitting and in full control of them. You had a 230lbs man coming in at full speed on a 175-180lbs player, did anyone expected Romano to stay there and get k.lled, he had to try to get away from that hit. The same was happening with Sim in Oshawa, he too had to get away from that train coming down on him. Only difference, Woolley did get the 5-minute and the game plus a suspension, Gibson did not.

Doesn't even look like his knee would have made contact from there. It's in front of his arm.

And in response to other comments as a whole... Yes new account, my old one had timed out. Can be found in the Generals posts from years ago.

And yes, Barkey has been out. If Oshawa won, it would have been disappointing as they would be the excuse used, just as Oshawa made the excuse last year.

I am not talking about past suspensions because you will never beat the suspension Sennecke got this season. I don't remember the exact game but it was vs Ottawa. He tripped a player and it seemed to be a little embellished as the player got his legs pretty high in the air and I believe dislocated his shoulder, so Sennecke was suspended due to injury. I'd love to see the replay on that one. Wooley shouldn't have been suspended and I do not believe Gibson should have been suspended in Brantford. Though, again no replay to show contact has come forward.

Either way, as mentioned. Sim was fine. He'll play tonight. My opinion is it was embellished and that image may support my opinion.

Denver dressing tonight, so is Sim
I see him on the game summary sheet but not the scorers sheet. I'll wait to get excited when I see it on the official scorers sheet.
