London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

There's alot of ppl screaming for Gibsons to be suspended that thought Woolley should not have been penalized as Ramano jumped out of the way like Sim. Woolleys suspension was garbage and so a suspension against Gibson would be garbage aswell.
I think people just want consistency, not different rule books for different teams.

Agreed. The best retaliation is on the scoreboard. Goals hurt more than hits. Retaliate in the hand shake line by smiling saying better luck the third time. Gibson will get his in the pros ( if he gets there ) if he tries his crap with the big boys.
Recall how Cowan was taken out of the game by a blind side hit in the middle of the ice to help the Gens win their regular season game on London's ice. No penalty was assessed, and the Gens gained control of the game and emerged victorious. This is what the league is teaching to London opponents, in Oshawa's case, they were good students and learned well.

Two knee injuries in two games, they are trying to hurt players in order to take control of the game. This is the reason for Dale's amusing expression; if London does this, they will be suspended in addition to receiving five minutes and a game. The league's office is screwed up at the highest level.

The inconsistency and favouritism in the officiating in the playoffs this year is difficult to understand.
Not just this year. Last year, Saginaw had a 28-16 PP advantage in their series with the Knights. Got away with everything in their series with SSM including an egregious “no goal” call that would have won SSM the series. London also had 10 games of suspensions administered during that Saginaw series. Memorial Cup final was also advantage Saginaw as it was okay for Julien to receive a head check after Zayne pretended to be dead in the first period which resulted in 5 and a game to Sim. This year, Oshawa seems to have the golden rule book. I’d be shocked if Oshawa didn’t have the power play advantage tonight. Over/under discrepancy I’ll set at 3.5. If Ingalls is involved, 5.5. Have a safe summer all.

Yes some frigging consistency would be nice. Maybe we could have a class action lawsuit against OHL and get it proven in a court of law. Let the judge decide and donate the money to Children’s Hospital Foundation and Barkey’s Buds. Lerner is a STH or used to be and me he would do it pro bono!

Battling uphill just makes the final goal (IF achieved in next 3 games) all the more sweet.

IF Sim is out, doubt we hear til late aft or pregame, but I'd elevate Read ( hope Sim can go thou) and keep the other 2 lines as is, but that's just me.
Cowan/ORielly/Monty
Nurmi/Julien/ Read
Halts/Nichol/VanG
Bolts/VanB/Aboflan
Roll the 3 lines and spot use VanB if needed. Yes I know Hawery is more skilled than 4th line, but 1 game on the bench with a shift or 2 ain't going to help development much.
Use the 4th line ( or more likely part of the line) if needed.

I'll preface this with, I am a Generals fan.

FIrst of all, Sim will be in. For those not in attendance on Tuesday, there are a few telling factors. For reference I sit behind the opposing bench a few rows up.
1. Following the hit, Sim's initial response was to look for the ref. Once he saw his hand up, he immediately started to hold his right knee.
2. Once he got up, he was favouring his left knee, and as he got off the ice, was joking with the trainer. They both were chuckling as he left the ice.
3. As Bonk returned from talking to the refs following the hit, he was making the diving motion with his hand towards the bench. Indicating the refs believed it was embellishment.
4. Sim returned to the bench, immediately after the penalty expired. He and Cowan were then laughing on the bench.

I have not seen a replay, so from my perspective, it did not look like more than a trip and dive. He tried to avoid the hit, Gibson & Sim collided, but I didn't think that Gibson changed his knee's position from how he initially tried to make contact. Again, I have not seen a replay.
Unfortunately, for Sim, he's clearly been marked as a player known to embellish and this is one of those situations. And with his return to the bench, the officials noticed it. So, another reason there wouldn't be a suspension, because that is the OHL.

Now as a Generals fan with a legit question for London fans. Knowing that Gibson is either Oshawa's #1 or #2 defenseman. Would you rather win having beat the full line up or down a key member? Last year the Generals were down two big players and that was the main reason they didn't stand a chance. This year, the generals have a full line up and have competed to at least make this interesting. I've said from the start, I believe London would win in 6. They are better than Oshawa, but Oshawa is a competitive team.
Oshawa was given the same opportunity in 2015 when McDavid hit a fan with a stick post game. The generals decided they wanted to win and beat McDavid.

Also, as a note in reading most of the comments in regards to missed calls. There have been an absolute ton in this series. Including some very dirty plays by both sides, worthy of suspensions. And the diving on both sides has been atrocious. I try to be impartial, and I know I'm not entirely, I'm just trying to give some honest feedback.

Time to break some Oshawa Saturday night plans, Go Knights !

I am guessing Sim might play tonight, although I am no doctor !

I was watching him going off the ice, sure he wasn't putting any weight on, but he was bending his knee pretty good with confidence, it is usually a good sign. Normally a stretch ligament or a cartilage, she'll swell and lock up within a minute or two after the incident. All depends on how sore and how bad is the swelling, the next day, if you see him today without the crutches or a cane, my guess he'll dress

The Knights have played the whole series without Barkey who has been as good as Cowan in the playoffs so I don't care about what Gibson means to the Generals.

The Knights had a game where Woolley did the same thing Gibson did and he was tossed out of the game with a 5 minute major and suspended a game. The player he hit finished the game and was fine.

Gibson should have got the same but he will most likely play tonight even though he has already been suspended these playoffs for kneeing another player.

But I'm sure it was just an unfortunate accident, and there was no intent to injure. Wasn't that the first time Gibson stuck out his knee and injured a player? Let's cut him some slack. Did he do that in the World Juniors? How about earlier in the playoffs against a star player, say, Lardis...? It couldn't be a 3rd time after all.

Some goods points here...but your forgetting Knights without their best player all series.

Cowan should have been called up for tonight’s game
Even if, even if he could have wouldn't it result in him not being able to play tonight? Monday, Tuesday in Oshawa, Wednesday in Toronto, can't play 4 days in a row.
