London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

I totally agree it’s a weird talking point that a few just can’t let go of? Also this is not the first year this has happened inevitably every playoff year the bench will get shortened. London has the greatest depth seen in the OHL in recent times BUT you still can’t have our 4th line out against the oppositions first line. I remember as a kid every 2 minutes the buzzer would sound and you switched lines. Is this what posters want …..? LOL 😆
I would prefer commercials to be seen in the top corner of the TV while the play is on. Soccer has to do it and the flow of the game is uninterrupted. There are currently 3 TV time outs per period at 4 minutes each. They even open up the zamboni doors to do an interview that could easily be done at any time. The players are ready to go but have to wait for ever. This eliminates the 4th line from every game. All year the teams have to play 4 lines otherwise the top players would be dead. Now they can easily be double shifted if they know a TV time out is coming, and they do know. (strategy)

I agree. I actually think Cowan is a good defensively. Also think of what he contributes on the PK. He’s a PK merchant and one of the best PK guys I’ve seen at this level. I am impressed at how he has stepped up amongst all the stars in this series.
Yeah how many breakaways or solid chances did the knights have with Cowan on the kill. I can’t believe how much the gens defense get caught like that in a close game , I mean if ya gotta pinch to get caught up that’s one thing but in a close game it’s like they are all thinking they are gonna get a goal and let’s forget about playing defense on the gens side . Cowan on the penalty kill should scare the gens defense more but it obviously doesn’t

I think all three were solid last night. Nicholl played the best game of his playoff this year, he contributes in so many more ways that just on the scoresheet. BMO played very good also, he was playing physical an was choosing to make the safe plays rather that try something a little risky. While he may not be on the scoresheet he look good. EVG was the same as Nicholl, he played excellent on the wall. Got pucks deep and fought to get them back. He speed and grit were evident last night!
I thought that line was very good last night

Any chance we see Barkey either tonight or Friday? Even in a limited role...
No and it's a Thursday game. So strange to have a championship series have 3 games in for 4 days let alone 5 games in seven days. not enough rest time for bumps and burses. You have conference games given 13 days to complete a round if it goes the distance but in the league final if it goes the distance it is only given 10 days.

Not sure, can't confirm...but I read that Barkey has a high ankle sprain which normally requires a minimum of 3 weeks for recovery (and usually closer to 6 weeks). He's inching closer to 3 weeks...
Yes have had multiple high ankle sprains and was usually around a 4 week recovery time but that is without any professional help of any kind. I am sure he is having therapy and they are taking very good care of it! Figured as we were coming up to three weeks there might be a chance he could at least dress and play as much as some guys on the 4th line :eek3:

That’s best case scenario…

The average high ankle sprain could take 6-8 weeks.

But I don’t suspect Barkey will be in the OHL Finals. Just hopeful he can play in the Memorial Cup tournament.

Looks like the same lineup from last night, Sean Reid and Mac Nichol with the orange bands. Reid did Game 2 while Nichol was Game 1, hopefully that is the only time we have to mention their names tonight.

Wasn't this the same issue with Brett Brochu ( high ankle sprain ) that kept him out for a significant amount of time ? If I recall correctly, he tried to play before completely recovered, but just couldn't regain his previous form .

Barkey's game is skating, and executing sharp, tight turns to elude opponents. It's how he manages good zone entries and puck possession. It would be risky to rush his rehabilitation , since he'd be placing a lot of stress on his ankle . Best to heed the doctor's advise, and heal up properly.

If that becomes a nagging injury, it can affect his future, from making the big club to financial losses. If we care for our players on our favourite team, we should want their 100% full recovery. It is the least we can do for all the entertainment they have brought us for their time in London.

I have to disagree here, Dino.., We are speaking of a potential future professional star on a big stage. Any long-lasting injury can hurt his future, best he waits for the full recovery, his long life dream can depend on this injury.

Heck, I am not too difficult when it comes to commercials, I just want one long enough to go get myself another cold beer and back.

Defensive liability ? Don't think so. Perhaps because he is on the ice so much he has more opportunity to make mistakes. I agree that sometime he and Dickenson get a bit too cute in their own end but I am sure have the green light from Dale to be creative
Yeah Matt you keep saying this stuff about Dickinson be scratched for Spencer now your all over Cowan like take away there points this season and see where the knights would be No players perfect everybody makes mistakes. And sometimes there made in trying to put your team on your back and doing it all for a win

I liked 90/13/44 together during reg season. Like the change but we'll see if it works or if Dale sticks with.
47 replaced 90 on top line, at least to start.

Someone PLEASE tell Frankie Corrado that there is more than one player in the game tonight. He is a one trick pony. And it’s very annoying.

We need a big game from the non top 2 D ( 3-5 really being Woolley, Brzustewicz and Allen). They all need to step up!

We need more from Nicholl, BMO, Van Gorp
What are your expectations for the final score? You've just named 6 players that you feel need to "step it up" And I'm sure you expect output from Cowan, Sim, Halttunen, Bonk, Dickinson, Montgomery, Julien, & O'Reilly
