London Knights 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part VII

Van Gorp doesn’t look right. Should be moved down for the next game and move Read up. He deserves it.
I agree Read playing great. He’s a little tougher or more SIM like then Monty and Nichol Move him up. Try him with Cowan and OReilly

Why do away fans come on here just to stir the pot? Do I go onto your forum and tell you your big “blue collar” team plays like a bunch of trust fund powder puffs? I don’t care to engage with people who come on the London thread whose purpose is quite evident from the get go.
Hey, has someone hacked your account? Not saying I don't like it but I've NEVER seen you engage like this before. Like I said....no hate. Also. You're 1000% correct. 😆

Yeah and some clown on here said he was lazy in game one . Way to go Cowboy !!
He's not a clown and he's not far off. I really don't call them lazy plays....I call them entitled greatness plays with a scootch of lazy. Let me explain. These are plays where you think you can do a behind the back pass to no one in your own zone and only expect it to go to one if your teammates. Cowan and Dickinson have done this countless times in their own end and the offensive zone. They have gotten away with it as the knights are much better then the teams they have faced. The longer you last in the playoffs the more this stuff will bite you in the ass.

I was that “clown”. The success in the OHL has gone to his head. He holds the puck too long, tries to force passes, etc. It was also on display at the WJC.

Dale gives his stars a loooong leash and some players take advantage. Game 1, Van Bommel had 2 great shifts and scored but then took a penalty and didn’t see the ice again until the last shift. Cowan had multiple turnovers and kept getting put out there.

I don’t think Cowan will have a successful NHL career. He’s definitely going to spend the next couple in the AHL. Maybe him and Sim can rent a place together.

That Barkey, Cowan and Bonk draft might be our best draft ever. Absolutely hit on each one of these guys! Awesome scouting, drafting and developing!

I have zero issues with this, because we saw the alternative in 2004 losing game 7 of the Conference finals to Guelph with Rob Schremp stapled to the bench.

Last night was Corey Perry's first 2 goal game since December 5th 2021 against Philadelphia and his first 2 goal playoff game since September 26th 2020 in the Finals against Tampa Bay
He’s going to play into his 50s while Mike Richards currently looks like he’s 50.

I have gone back and to watch some game replays of last night victory, this team played extremely well.

London were clearly offensively outplayed in the third last night, with a shots margin 15 to 4 in Oshawa's favours. With that said, London did match the intensity defensively that resulted in no scoring for Oshawa. When we hear matching the intensity on defence, we should go back to last night's game for references. Dale's system was perfectly executed, this is why London finished first and are the premier junior organization in the country.

We may have seen Elliott's best showing in a London uniform in the third period, he was fighting the puck earlier on but not in the third, he was a very determined young man. His progress from game one against Owen Sound to game fourteen of these series has just been phenomenal. London can win a cup with a goaltender like him in net, he has found his groove ever since the third game of the Erie's series

Both late 3rd period penalties LK players put themselves in a position to have the call made. JJ put his stick across the waist from behind. It was right in front of me, and yes a dicve should have been called, but don't put your stick there and the ref can't call it. But yes the Shwa player held the stick.

As an aside Dickinson got clipped 2x with a high stick in the 3rd with no call ( at least ir looked that way unless he was fishing for a call as it at the far end.
I agree. Stick was put under the arm and every player in the league has learnt to clamp down on a stick as soon as they feel it. In this case the hand was used. Should have been offsetting minors.
I thought Elliott played his best game last night. Oster had a rough night.

LKs 1st line was matched up alot of the game vs Shwa 1st line and LKs top players won that battle tonight.
Will be interesting to see how Shwa staff responds with last change.
I think they will also try as much as possible to match their top line with ours but on icings and such they will try to catch us with a 3rd line out their. I don't think Oshawa's 2nd or 3rd line match well against our first line. Just my opinion but I think they would be more susceptible to our offense.

About uour third period summary I would say uour wrong .We outplayed them 5 on 5 In the first 2 . They had 2 power plays in the third there defense was taking chances in the third as they needed to get shots , we played the trap and shut them down offensively . We didn’t need any more goals we needed to shut them down .They didn’t out play us at all in the third at all we won the third we did want we wanted to they accomplished nothing in the third .

Perhaps, re-reading the post might help, how about it?

Ya that happened in last game on an icing where Shwa tossed out their top line.
But Shwa can wait n see who LK throws out on any FO and adjust accordingly.
Going to be tough to get the 4th line out there in Shwa......oh wait a sec, doesn't really matter ;)

How many shifts did Martin n yhe 4ymth line in Shwa get before coach threw them out at the end of the game? Anywhere we can get the PT #s?

It’s only a problem when London does it, I barely saw 61, 14 and 12 on the ice if at all before the end of the game. London does it, it’s goon hockey. Any other team does it, It’s resting their stars.

Martin is one of the worst players I’ve seen in the OHL this year. Somehow Windsor swindled a 3, 4, and a player out of Oshawa for him. At least Boulton can skate a little and finish checks. Other fans love to bring up London ripping teams off in deals but Bowler sure has done it with Wright, Dionicio, Costanzo, Martin, etc. But that’s never framed that way.

Your point is 100% accurate. Which is why I’ve changed my tone on here. London fans need to stick up for their team. As biased as we can be, the other 19 franchises are just as bad, if not worse, with their London hatred. 🖕to those fans.
