London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part VI

Well, Niagara has once again regained the title of Biggest and Smelliest Sh!tshow in the OHL.
After an investigation in which the whole team apparently ran amok at a local theatre the league imposed sanctions on the entire team which require each and every player on the lineup (including goalies) to sit (suspended) for one period during the series starting Game 1.
What an absolute joke of a franchise.

Game day. Expect Owen Sound to play their best hockey today. The key will be playing a full 60. If the Knights do this they will prevail, but if you give Owen Sound any time and space they will take advantage.

Anyone making the Tuesday trek to Owen Sound?

I wish...what a great environment for junior hockey, loud rink, you're on top of the action. Can't complain about plan B...watching on tv with Mark M doing the play-by-play (best in the O), camera placement at the rink makes you feel part of the action. As for the announcer at ice level, I hope it's Spencer tonight (kid with the Mohawk), who in my opinion is second only to Sean Furfaro in Kitchener. I even rank anthem singers...Steve Ritchie, OS, number 1.
Of course, more importantly there's the actual game itself. Skate hard, play with intensity, and a 60 min effort should prove rewarding.
I'd like to see Montgomery and linemates produce some quality scoring chances.
So, Montgomery will be my player to watch for tonight.

I have not had the pleasure to go, but sounds like OS is a OG jr hockey barn!

Nice! I’m feeling a breakout game for Nicholl tonight!

Tonight should be a dominant road game, get a few early and quick and shut it down. Building a wall along centre and sit on them for 30minutes. Boring hockey but gets the boys practicing defensive system for a tougher opponent.

I agree. I just think Owen sound will come out flying!

Perhaps, but an aggressive forecheck has been the key to our success. I can't see 30 min of defensive hockey regardless of the score....maybe into the 3rd.

Of course I wouldn't miss it.
There is far more optimism around this year's group than last year's that included Colby , Cedrick, Konnor, Sam.

The team has had ( near) sellout crowds the last few weeks and again tonight.

Here's my jersey choice which holds special significance to me.
I know some of you will understand .

Looking forward to a couple great games, for both teams .

Safe travels, Knights faithful !

Make plans to come next fall when the weather is fine.
Located on Georgian Bay the team had been known for taking a swim during training camp !

Yes old school it is .
Polar opposite to most new rinks, but decent amenities, local characters, and the literal sports ' hall of fame ' on the main floor.

Come to watch thd game without distractions.

Between period entertainment is usually Timbits hockey.

It's the biggest social gathering in Grey Bruce all winter - lots of socializing at intermission , the owners sit in the crowd and blend in, are highly approachable .

The only Fan club in the league with a permanent space on the concourse.

Free parking Best Western steps away every room has a view of the Harbour .

Plenty of small town, blue collar passion for our team .

You're welcome anytime .

Not going to suggest Boulton is some sort of “hidden” star or anything. BUT if you watch when he is on the ice (easily done it’s only 2-3 shifts per game?) watch how quickly the opposing defenseman move the puck. Rushed passes lead
to mistakes. He really doesn’t even have to make contact at this point in his OHL career, his presence alone is highly effective. London by no means is a big nasty team Boulton in the lineup instantly changes the way the opposition thinks and plays. Especially in today’s much softer and more gentlemanly game.

I first saw a post about this from BarDown this morning and thought it was an April Fools joke.. lol
DDD and his gongshow never ceases to amaze.

Elliott not having a great outing so far tonight but night not over yet.
I understand the sentiments that we didn't give up what we gave up to get an OA goalie to have him watch the playoffs. But with his last outing at times being a bit shaky, however has to be acknowledged he had lots of solid play as well. But we have a truly talented rookie netminder who played pretty much every other game all season I would have subbed him in for game 3 at least? However as stated the game is far from over ......

Someone enlighten me. What exactly does Nurmi bring to this team? He should be on the 4th line.
No sooner do I post this and Nurmi with a beauty feed to Cowboy.
Lol, keep posting the criticisms we need more from Nurmi for sure. I will say generally speaking he seldom makes a mistake however he also seldom makes a play
