London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part VI

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Only one real choice for OA at this point the rest are gone. Mark will have to get creative finding some OA's and new imports.
Agreed. Top 6 includes Hawery, Read, O’Reilly , Nicholl and Van Gorp so far not a bad start. If we say add minimum two OAs and one import to the forward crop we could have a solid top 9

Lines for the playoffs are more top of mind right now. Have to assume we go with a similar lineup to the one against Windsor last week? That is the only game Knights have played with a full lineup in weeks.

Maybe/hopefully we get Read in for Boulton ?

Unfortunately I don’t think we are going to see the Barkey/O’Reilly/Montgomery line re-united. I know a lot of people were hoping Dale might go back to it…. Myself included.

Read and Hawery will be leaders on offence next year. Lots of choice for overagers to compliment them.
Read should be a great second liner and Cover and Hawery should be solid 3rd liners at the beginning of next year. Cover and Hawery will be second liners by the end of the year much like Sam O’Rielly last year.

If we somehow get back Sam Dickinson or trade for Jett Luchanko for our 2025 first round pick then we are back to being Championship calibre.

Nurmi/Import - O’Rielly - Vansaghi
Van Gorp - Nicholl - Read
Cover - Hawery - Bidgood
Boulton - Hickson - Gerber
Aboflan - 2009 1st pick - Cook

Trade pieces: Bidgood, Gerber, Aboflan, Cook, 2009 1st Round Pick.

Woolley - Brzustewicz
Fagan - Fimis
Mitchell - Import
Clark

I'd have to think Read slots in over Boulton.

Don't forget about Seth Ronan, William Janicek, & Max Mews too. Id love to see Vansaghi but I cant see him leaving Michigan state for London on a down year, if he were to come it would have been this year. Another year of too many players vs openings, a good problem to have.

My idea of next years lineup

Import-O’Reilly-Van Gorp
OA-Nicholl-Read
Cover-Van Bommell- Hawery
Boulton-Hickson-Aboflan (OA)

Dickinson-Brzustewicz
Woolley-Fimis
Fagen-Mitchell
Spencer

Medvedev
Wilson

Could still add another OA, another import, 2025 1st and 2nd rounder, Cook, Gerber, Bidgood, Janicek, Mews

I wouldn’t trade Bidgood. This kid is going to be a very good player in this league.

Elliot has to be awarded GOY imo
Naw, it had to go to Jackson Parsons. The Rangers wouldn’t be where they are without him.

The Knights may have not had as great as a record without Elliott, but they would still arguably be one of the best teams in the OHL just with Medsy and let’s say Finn Wilson.

Not saying Elliot doesn’t deserve his flowers, but Parsons was solid all year.

I’m more ticked that Michael Simpson didn’t win Goalie Of the Year last year

Parsons would be a good candidate for a MVP award. The goalie with the best GAA, SV%, & by far best W-L record is the run away goalie of the year imo.

If that was the case Michael Simpson should have won it over Jacob Oster last year. He has better GAA, they were tied in SV% and Oster has one more win than Simpson because he started the last game of the season.

GAA: is no longer an accurate stats for goalies. Part of the stat does indicate the goals against for the goalie, but also part of it indicates how good a defense is in front of the goalie.

SV%: is more accurate, but I would Elliott has never had to be spectacular, he’s just had to be solid and stops 25 shots a game. Whereas there were games where Parsons has made some ridiculous saves to keep the Rangers in it.

Parsons’s also has more wins and SO’s.

Let’s recreate the way to determine GOY excluding those playing for the top teams.
McIvor is top 5 in league SV% & GAA on the 15th placed team.
