London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part VI

Kitchener continues making the same mistakes over and over when constructing their teams.

It's size, or a lack thereof mixed with not enough physicality.

I'm sure u guys know better than anyone playing them so often. They don't target the Max Mccues, Landon Sims of the world.

They go after the Mesar, Arcuri, Zhilkin, Rehkopf, Sale, Pridham, Humphreys of the world. Elite players. Very skilled. But not guys who are gonna win battles, crash the net, make life hard in other teams.

Thought theyd work on it but then they draft 5'7 Headrick, Romano who's 5'11, Lam who's 5'9, Ellis who's 5'10 & got Valentini who's 5'9. Great players or will be, but they'll have the same issues prior stars did for them come playoffs. Physically overmatched, overwhelmed.

They keep doubling down on it too as 3 of their first 4 picks this past weekend were on kids who are 5'10".

That's my opinion anyway lol. I know I wasn't asked/not Sting board but us teams golfing are bored 😂
Excellent points.

Sure glad they decided not to scratch Dickenson
Hey look, Dickinson decided to play like the player he can be! First two games were the worst of his season and if you didn’t see it you either didn’t watch or your glasses were a bit too green. Nice to see him back (as I said he would)

I’m sure the reasons are not talked about but anyone hear anything about Eries starting goalie? He isn’t even dressed. Maybe a head injury however it could be as simple as a bad case of redness on the back of his neck….

He left game 2 on his own accord, injured. He took at least 3 really hard shots to the head and told his coach he couldn’t play anymore while pointing to his head. My guess, concussion.

Knights win the series' third game by a 4-0 score to take a 3-0 lead

I think the London Knights team has arrived for this year's playoffs run
Austin Elliott has made the necessary adjustment and has also upped his play a notch
The team is playing on all pistons, they have the team feeling now

Will close this series on Thursday

Congrats to the boys, only saw the highlites unfortunately but appears like Austin was really solid between the pipes. At some point during these playoffs we are going to need him to be at the top of his game so great to see him turn in a solid complete game for us! 3 down 1 to go ……

I was sleeping because of nigh shift and got up put Stubbs on while getting dressed. Missed first 15-16 minutes. Grabbed Salsa deep wife bought me and put game with two minutes left in first. Wholly crap The what a last minute. They say it is demoralizing to score one in last month minute but 3 in 31 seconds. I have been watching hockey and playing it for over 65 years. WOW! Close it out Thursday.

A very impressive team win. Looked like the goal was to shut Erie down at home and mission accomplished. That was a playoff hockey road win. Elliott was at his best and the 30 some seconds in the last minute of the first was killer instinct at its finest. The PK was flawless as well. Games like this are what wins championships

How Erie approached their series this year, had a lot to do of how they played their last game against London, even if it was half of a regular roster. A team psych is so important when mentally preparing a team, Erie used it perfectly against Saginaw. Now they are back against a London's full lineup, although still on a high in London first two games, they are back home where they have last beat London hoping for the better result.

Erie tried their utmost best in the first, but London wanted none of that and quickly took over the game. London's overall team effort deflated any mental high that Erie have had in previous games, the Knights took full advantage of Erie's disappointing low by scoring three goals inside one minute. Erie is finally realizing they are not playing that same depleted team anymore, that had given them so much confidence before. It was a perfectly well executed game by London last night, it may have taken them six games in the series, but they are here now and are fully prepared for all challenges ahead as one big determined family.

Time to close out this series, but there's something that can be accomplished in doing so . It would be to the team's advantage in getting their secondary scoring clicking Those guys who carried the team during Barkey & Cowan's absence earlier on in the season. They.ve tailed off a bit in recent games, and "the twins" have been the guys driving the offence, of late. I do realize that this team's strength is their depth, and it'll become more important in future, that it becomes more assertive It will make opponents task of shutting down offence, when the scoring is distributed over all 3 lines.....the 4th being more of an energy line whose job is providing fits to the opposition. I'd welcome some goals from guys like Montgomery, Van Gorp , Nurmi, and Bonk. If that starts happening, it'll present a big problem for any opponent. The usual tactic of shutting down the 1st line will not be so advantageous.:hit::thumbu:

London needs to take game 4. Just a bit of extra rest. I say NO CHANCE that Windsor fully sweeps Kitchener. Kitchener can’t afford to lose this one.

I think Oshawa had to go out and injure Brantford a best player to be able to get a W.

Odd that Barrie decided to change goalies when they had one who was performing well and then lost..

Misiak tried the "reverse hit" but was not ready for the rock that came his way. Misiak initiated all contact, they laid on the ice like he was dead, all while taking peaks at the official. Miraculously he drank some water from the hands of God and made an incredible recovery for the third period!
Is that the same water that Tavares drank after being checked by Liambas in the 2009 playoffs? He laid on the ice like he'd been hit by Lee Harvey Oswald, then less than 30 seconds into the ensuing power play, hopped on the ice like nothing happened. That water?

Well deserved win. Well coached as always. Goalie for Erie played real well or this game is 7 or 9 nothing. Elliott played very steady. Nurmi is quietly playing better and excellent on penalty kill.

Brankley had the finest for a "quick Knight's recovery." I saw so many miracles with it.

Surprised Halttunnen isn’t torching the league this year. He’s been more of a physical guy and playing well defensively, but I thought he would go nuts offensively
I think Halttunnen is playing well, sees the ice well and has a good read on his teammate's movements. His primary objective is probably his focus on his team role assigned to him by his coaching staff. I wouldn't worry too much about him ripping up this league in playoffs, the mean thing for him is to be there when the need is calling.

I think you answered your own "question". He has been given things to work on by the coaching staff and his NHL team and I think he has rounded out into a much more complete player as a result. I would not consider him a natural goal scorer (although he has a great shot!) but more of a power forward (with a great shot!). Did I mention he has a great shot ?

I just want to see some more timely goals. He can easily be a 20-25 goal guy at the next level if he makes it
