London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part V

Can we switch the topic to another Knights off ice story?

Listening to the OHL podcast and apparently the Knights violated the OHL media availability rule by banning Kitchener media from access to Knights players because of the story about Cowan not assisting on the goal in Kitchener.

Discuss….

The Kitchener media & the LF Press both suck and should be banned from all access, since they all just report what they want to anyway. They don't actually need access for what they do

Not suprised, but not sure why kitchener media is so obsessed with it when their officials were the ones to give Cowan a point. Maybe hunter thought the media were going to hound Cowan about it and said no. Anyways, I don't see why players should have to take questions from the media. If they don't want to, then they shouldn't have to do it

Agreed. LFPress is trash. They literally "report" based on Reddit posts and use people's replies as quotes.

Much ado about nothing. Gamesmanshp. Give em a wee fine and move on lol. I'm sure Hunter could care less. Both sides just look for click bait n revelance, but most know the low value reporting that is actually done.

Knights room, Knights rules, they will pay the OHL fine and move on. Little gamesmanship on their part and the only people still talking about the assist and this are people in Kitchener, no need to beat a topic to death, Kitchener has beaten it brought it back to life and beaten it to death again.

Ryan O'Reilly crashed his truck into a Tim Hortons in Lucan, Fled the scene and didn't appear to get any NHL suspension. I think that case, might be a closer comparable. The biggest difference, it happened in the summer and he was acquitted before hockey began again.
Do you know how hard it is to NOT crash into a Tim Horton’s in Canada? Those things spring up in front of you everywhere.

Nothing will be solved March 6th it will be a remand unless he walks in and pleads guilty to all charges.
These type of legal proceedings go on a good year plus if you fight it which I assume he lawyers up.

It couldn't have been business as usual today at practice. I wonder how the team will respond to this senseless, irresponsible act. It's quite the distraction. It could be a blow out loss in Barrie or a motivated, determined team ready to compete.
The defence is now thinner.
Bonk, Dickinson, and Woolley (the latter playing his best hockey of his career) are the 'big 3', but someone has to round out the top 4. My guess is that will be Brzus, but he'll have to be paired with a defensive d-man (Bonk or Woolley).
The 3rd pairing is a concern, a point I've mentioned before.
Fimis has been fine for the most part; trustworthy d-man.
It's really the 6th D that has me concerned. Both Fagan and Spencer are horrible defenders, often get caught up ice, and their coverage is poor. When Fagan moves the puck up ice quickly he's less of a liability. It's when he keeps the puck on his stick that he's prone to turnovers.
Imagine this...
We're on the road...3rd pairing is out and we ice the puck. With a tired 5 skaters, the other team with last change sends out a refreshed top line. That's an area where we're vulnerable. Fortunately, we don't have too many concerns.
Keep in mind, that much of our 19 game win streak was before Allen came over.

I think 10-15 games would be a suitable suspension. Considering the legal penalties that will be levied if found guilty. He's 20, and will learn his lesson the hard way. This is not the same situation as Mailloux. And as tragic as the Gaudreau situation was, that has nothing to do with this.
