Was he really Impaired not saying he did was right but as a novice driver have to have 0 if he had .001 and wasn't a novice driver he wouldn't have gotten DUI.
Not excusing what he did but we don't know all the details I reserve my judgment till March 6th when he has his day in court

Cameron Allen, 20, is charged with impaired driving, impaired operation exceeding legal blood-alcohol levels, failing to remain at the scene of a crash, failing to report an accident and having a blood-alcohol concentration above zero as a novice driver.

I don't think they would charge him with the first two plus the last one, if he was at .001

I understand what you are saying, but I am sure you never went to the QMJHL commsioner and complained when he only gave Jordan Dumais a 5 game suspension for getting charged with a DUI at 2:20 AM?

Right, Wrong or indifferent a prescident across the CHL has potentially been set. While I think it is far too leniant, others may think it is just right. Everyone is allowed their opinion whether it is agreed upon or not.

And to think that it is just "Hockey Culture" is very Naive. It is teenage culture, and sports culture in general unfortunately.

I'm not sure what the league will determine is the right punishment the fact this has reached media outlets across North America and in the aftermath of what happened to the Gaudreau's I have a feeling we can throw out the Q example. If the league comes off looking too weak on the punishment especially as a rookie commissioner that won't be good overall for OHL recruitment in my eyes. As much as I hate seeing a team spend assets to just lose the player I feel we may not see Allen in a Knights jersey again this year, this incident goes above just the OHL.

There is no precedent. The act, circumstances, and outcomes are completely different to Dumais.

There is zero excuse in this day and age - between Uber/Lyft/Taxi there is almost no where in any town let alone a city like London that a person couldn't get a ride

If his talent is greater than this offence, going by pro sports history he'll be ok.
Just a commentary on pro sports and their willingness to have a long leash on certain offences.
I believe at his age, he should be given a second chance after serving his suspension. But anything less this season and playoffs is unacceptable. It's not only to "punish" him but to set an example for other players

I think so as a passenger but the police aren't releasing the name. Either the person didn't want to be named or is a minor

I think this is ( for me) a bigger concern. The Allen stuff will get resolved by the league and the authorities but who was the passenger? Was this a friend, girlfriend or another player? If a minor we will never know and shouldn't know but if it is a minor at that time of day and drinking involved that is a concern. If it was a player and a minor how will the league and authorities address that? All of these questions make the situation far more difficult to understand and not a straight up answer as a comparable to another DUI for another player.

If it is another player does anyone think they may face some discipline as well or does this part get covered up? And of course maybe it was not another player and that we may never know. Secrecy leads to speculation. And here we are.

Exceeding blood alcohol level as a novice driver is anything above zero.
So yes if he has minute trace of alcohol it does change the perception of his DUI
The charges he got are all standard DUI related charges for anyone minus the leaving the scene

Yes knights have 1 card left has to be soon though roster freeze is in a week or so

I don’t know about everyone else but when I was 20, I was very capable of doing some pretty stupid things. Fortunately I wasn’t a junior hockey player in the social media era where our expectations can be high. I am glad that it appears no one was seriously hurt. I hope this young man gets the support and help he needs and learns from this. What the league or team does is secondary in the big picture. I look at Craig McTavish and the model citizen he became after his similar mistake with worse consequences. I am not a Knights fan but I would hope all fans would want the best for any player on any team in the league.

I'll go out a limb and say regardless of where the league/team lands in terms of severity of discipline/ punishment one side will say too much or not enough and maybe both are unhappy with it.
DD isn't a teen or hockey issue in isolation, it's across the board
