I think having a new commissioner this is uncharted territory. Fleeing the scene just makes it worse. At the end of the day, he’s a kid, that made a big mistake. I can’t see the league cracking down hard on it, especially with how community based a lot of these teams are and the influence they have on younger kids.
At the same time, Allen’s an exceptional player. It’s unfortunate the cost paid, for him to turn around and do something stupid… 20 year olds do stupid stuff, he’s 20. The big issue here is he got caught, and got his name plastered in newspapers around Ontario within 24 hours. Can’t be covered up at this point, and I can’t imagine it helps OHLs image.
The original article I saw was the 5th? I’d expect an “indefinite”/“pending review” up until the court date, with a re-instatement shortly after.
