London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part V

Lfp has an article about the crash already. Expect discipline from the league in my opinion, Just from reading the article. How many games will he be suspended shall be seen i guess.

Big blow to the Knights for sure. Cam mightve blown it for himself and for the Knights. Knights d will be tested for sure. Mailloux got half a year suspension for what he did, so he might get something similar

Wow, 3:00am! That’s way past curfew. You can bet the Hunters will be running a super tight ship the rest of the way.
Realistically I don’t see any outcome where Cam’s OHL career isn’t done. Tough road ahead for him. He really let the team down. This will hurt the defence in the long run. There was a reason such a premium price was paid for him….and now it’s for nothing.

I know innocent until proven guilty, however I'd like to see him done for the season with the team working with him to provide all of the necessary resources
Yeah not much to prove here though. And hopefully he gets the help he needs, and as far as hockey goes he probably still has a path forward but it will take quite a bit of work.

Think they’ll still win the west without him atleast but with him it makes it FAR easier imo.

I guess we could bring up the mitchell kid? Not sure what else the Knights could do. Would cam still be on a card if he got banned for the rest of the year?
I love this idea. I’m a big fan of Mitchell and I know he’s young and inexperienced but I would give him his crash course into the OHL the rest of the way and there is you guy on the 5/6 pairing that can move the puck. He’s a better option than Fagan or Spencer, even with their experience.

No, that includes the Playoffs.
Yeah, a team that's loaded up for a playoff run and went through the top two teams statistically in the league unsurprisingly has a better record against a team that went through the bottom two seeds in their conference for their first two rounds. Yes, I know, Brochu. Sure, he would have helped but Petes went through the top two goalies that season already. To compare the team with that record with the team that played them the next game is pretty disingenuous, one lost a lot and got mugged for their goalie to the other.
This season in Peterborough, however it was a beatdown with no Cowan in the lineup. it stands to reason given the play of the Petes this season, and the motivation to get Cowan that point, that there was little chance the Petes would have scored 2 more goals to win. Honestly, if the expectation were that they would have come back with two goals, then why didn't they tie the game and send it into overtime?
The game in Peterborough was a worse team than the one they're fielding now even with their (before yesterday) leading scorer out of the game. Momentum in a game goes a pretty long way though, what a better way to slam the brakes on a teams momentum than telling them that a clear goal doesn't count. Also a pretty bad look that the ref making that call is the one that requested to call the game due to family ties but that's a separate topic.

Anyway, seems there are bigger things going on here now.

Again... they didn't score again on Friday. No reason to believe they would have scored had the goal counted. Unless you are saying the Petes just gave up

No reason to believe they would score at all based on the previous game.
No reason to believe the same goalie would end two different streaks in London.
No reason to believe similar goals with the net coming off would be called the opposite way, both in favor of the same team.
but here we are...

Different this season, the Petes are far worse
That is not true. The Petes in the second half this year they are a far better team than they were at this time last year. Since the half way mark Peterborough is in 17 games played 7-9-1-0 compared to last year in the last 34 games last season after they traded all their top players they were 4-25-5-0.

Ok, you guys win. Had the goal counted the Petes would have made an epic comeback and gone on to win the Memorial Cup. Instead, because of the bad call they gave up on each other and lost all hope.

Hindsight is 20/20. Would they make the trade if they knew this? Maybe maybe not. But they would've never of known this was going to happen.
Agreed. It doesn’t matter cause he’s played well and looked like an amazing fit. But this is just unfortunate.

I thought this kid was a “captain material” type. Very disappointed.
