London Knights 2024-25 Season Thread, Part V

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. OHL Officiating calls the games by the score in the game and the position of the teams in the standings. They want to keep the games close and manage the games to try to penalize the better team on the game in question. It does not favour any team but favours the team losing in a game most nights. If a team has a big lead in a game the officiating tries to help the team behind in the game (unless the penalty is obvious). Teams have to know that and act accordingly.

The issue was he made the cross check look way worse than it was. It was more of a scrum in front of the net and Sim acted like the Rangers player swung his stick and hit his face like a baseball swing.

Really liked the Halttunnen, O’Reilly and Sim line. That is a playoff style line. I think whatever line Nurmi is on should be the cycle line (likely with Nicholl). I liked seeing Barkey and Cowan throwing a couple hits. Would be nice to get everyone throughout the lineup playing physical.

He was bleeding from his lip ... over reaction, certainly a bit. But if you get hit hard enough to bleed, I think you warrant a bit of a reaction.

I think Saginaw will be the 4 seed in the west which would mean an Erie/Sag 1st round matchup and then the winner of that would likely face the 1 seed. Could be an interesting playoffs. Doesn’t look easy at all like some were saying earlier in the season.

He didn't start showing the ref blood until he was in the penalty box so he had time to bite his lip to plead his case.

Look, I dislike the Rags as much as anybody and Andonovski is my most disliked played on the Rags but I am also a realist. It was a sell job by Sim hence the diving penalty.

Wow. The Knights are really living rent free in the heads of Ranger fans. Every loss is a conspiracy theory.

Tonight - Petes in town. I expect the Knights to play a well structured and tidy game. Important points tonight.
 
Rye starts for the Petes. One of my favourite young goalies (Medvedev and Betts are the others).
Julien back in the lineup. Musical lines continue with Nurmi playing alongside the twins.

There’s a way to keep games close. Fagan shouldn’t be in the OHL. Junior B would be better for his development. Tonight’s goal where he misplayed the 2 on 1 was exactly what not to do on an odd man rush. He’s just not ready for this level of hockey.
I agree that a few guys could use a rest though, maybe play them less. Treat Dickinson like a 6th dman for a game or two and play Fimis like a top pairing. Hunter hopefully will figure it out.
 
This team needs to look at that Woolley goal and recognize that not every goal needs to be a work of art…Woolley skates down the wing and rips a hard shot and is rewarded. They are trying to do way to much and the amount of prime scoring chances that are passed up to try and make a high difficulty pass is frustrating. Simplify the game and get more shots to the net. We are struggling to score right now and need to simplify.

I am not a fan of Fagan...please forgive that heartless, scathing critique. I hope it wasn't over the top.
The #1 team in the league with a home record of 20-4 vs the worst team in the league with 4 road wins.
Time to start playing hockey.
 
Knights win 3-1.
Take a bow Cowan what an incredible streak! Such a rare feat...made us proud.
You see why I like Rye? Excellent young goalie with a bright future.
Woolley doing it at both ends of the ice. Leads team in plus/minus and has been scoring some big goals.
2 more points as we inch closer to the magic number.
