Steep price to pay, but a necessary addition to shore up the defence. After the past few games without Bonk and Dickinson, Jenken showed that he wasn't ready to be a regular on a championship roster--which is no shame as a 17yo stay-at-home defender.

Allen should be a good partner for either Dickinson or Woolley (depends if you prioritize Woolley having a steadier partner in Bonk or a better puck-mover in Allen). Brz and Fimis should be a solid enough pairing to not have to shorten the bench dramatically in the playoffs, but they both are the same archetype. An experienced, defensive-minded LHD would be a good add, but certainly not needed.

Cam Allen... damn, beat me to it.

But, I thought Allen was an OA?

Nope, an '05. He definitely wouldn't be back next year for an OA season either.

Now the question becomes does Fimis slot into the 3rd pair left side rotation with Fagan and Spencer? I cant imagine Brzustewicz sits after the WJC break. Went from not enough right shot D to one too many

I thought you guys never made big pick trades for players?
He is worth it though.
More reason for other teams to not do much buying this year. Be safe.
It's a two part trade ;) Jett Luchanko will look good after WJC
Unfortunately Hawery will be going too. Knights feel they hit with Mitchell makes parting with Hawery lil less of a blow

I would argue that Brzustewicz has been better than Woolley in many of the games this year--you can't sit him. Brz was Dickinson's partner on the first pair and covered well for Dickinson when he would make his end to end rushes.

I think you just live with one of Fimis and Brz playing their off side..

RHD always at a premium in hockey.

You live with playing one on the left side. It’s not that big of a deal.

For those curious here is the draft cabinet now. Still enough assets to make another move if need be but based on the roster id assume this is it. The picks will likely get restocked next year with whatever top end 06's come back.

Love the deal. It’s the deal that needed to happen. Sad to see Jenken go, Guelph gets a good one. Gotta pay to play. Interesting to see if another forward is acquired or this is it. I think we will see one more addition - Hunter is all in, and I’m here for it.

What do we get with Cam Allen?

Cam Allen is a smooth skater and a solid two way defenceman he’s had to be more offensive to be a leader in Guelph but he is a solid two way defenceman. He may have a bit more offensive punch than defensive stalwart capabilities, but fills the Isaiah George hole with elite skating, and two way ability, has great IQ and leadership qualities.

Solid add

I told y’all Cam Allen or Andrew Gibson and the defense is set..

Dickinson - Bonk
Woolley - Allen
Fagan/Fimis - Brzustewicz
Not sure that was a unique POV ;) Most agreed.

All good here, just playin, you've been going on about it for a while.

Mark dipped his toe all the way in. Should be fun to watch wether there is another add or not.
Fimis, Elliot, Montgomery n Allen.....not bad additions at all me thinks.
Seems like the going rate for a top pair D and add in the freebies.....we'll played so far.
Still a way to regroup a pick or 2 also, with the depth, if kids are open to moving this year or next.

Yup - also I just wonder if this is also a smart add in case there is a 10% chance Cam Allen could possibly come back next year as an OA.

Now once again let me reiterate it is very unlikely, but I would say there is more of a chance of that than Andrew Gibson returning and still less of a price because I’m think Soo would have wanted Noah Read and pieces or an 08.

Also, I think we are in fact done! No more significant trades needed….

Barkey - O’Rielly - Cowan
Nurmi - Julien - Halttunen
Montgomery - Nichol - Sim
Boulton - Read - Van Gorp

Spares: Hawery, Aboflan

Dickinson - Bonk
Woolley - Allen
Fimis - Brzustewicz

Spares: Fagan, Spencer

Elliott
