The Blues logo is pretty close to perfect, for what it is. It's very hard to imagine a better logo to represent the concept of "Blues".

Hawks logo in isolation is nothing special, it's the jerseys that look good.

Yeah I mean both logos are solid but the STL one is more of a proper logo whereas the other is basically a picture

The one that isn't a racist caricature.

I was curious about this statement because seriously, I don’t have the time to be aware of everything but this is what I found :

« The Chicago Blackhawks name and logo symbolizes an important and historic person, Black Hawk of Illinois' Sac & Fox Nation, whose leadership and life has inspired generations of Native Americans, veterans and the public. »

Is it not more like a tribute actually?

Also need to know if the Senators logo is racist towards Romans because that would actually be a conflict with my own ancestry

No, it was designed by Irene Castle who used to be a famous dancer and later the Black Hawks owner McLaughlin's wife. Apparently she just more or less directly copied the logo of McLaughlin's polo club though.

The Blackhawks logo is an early 20th century white New Yorker racial caricature of a "noble savage Indian" that has nothing to do with the Sauk culture or Mahkatêwe-meshi-kêhkêhkwa, who was also known as Black Hawk and is commonly depicted as follows in historical sources:

I was wearing a shirt with the Blues logo on a couple weeks ago and someone who knew nothing about hockey came up and asked me about it because they thought it was such a beautiful logo. True story.

Is it racist because the logo was designed by a white person?

It is racist because it is based solely on the racial stereotypes that an early 20th century white New Yorker possessed. If you're genuinely interested in honoring the Sac & Fox nation then the way to do that would be to hire Sac & Fox nation artists to design the team identity, should they be willing to do so.

Ok but then it should have been changed already, however I can't say I understand much about USA politics and way to go about things so I am not armed (no pun intended) to assess proper judgment. Anyway, one thing I dislike in society, is the automatic "racist" potential label just because a white person talks about a certain race. I get that feeling often as an European, even though my kids are mixed race but how could people know, eh? People first reaction is automatically "detector on, could be a racist". It's just an human nature mechanism adjusted to history

Of course there are also some white artists that are relatively well-versed in Native American art nowadays and would know to avoid this kind of faux pas, but even then the question remains whether you can really honor someone by appropriating their culture. Employing a white artist no matter how skillful and convenient instead of the very community you are ostensibly honoring.

Regarding Irene Castle and the Blackhawks logo though that discussion is not even relevant as she evidently knew next to nothing about the Native American cultures and was not particularly interested in educating herself either, just bought into the still prevailing noble savage mythos and used it in building a team identity marketable to the equally ignorant white audiences of her day. It's not that Castle was malicious or somehow especially racist for her time, rather the whole era was like that. Now it ought to be over as we know better.

The Hawks logo is a good hockey logo, but I no longer believe in using ethnic imagery as a logo.

That's just my opinion and I'm not interested in shouting about it.

I voted for the note which is also a good logo.

Obviously I'm biased, but if the Blackhawks weren't an O6 team I don't think this vote would be close.

I'm mostly interested in seeing whether people can put nostalgia and history aside when voting in these polls or if the top 4 will be all O6 teams.

I like both, but I went with the Blues because I appreciate its simplicity.
