Prospect Info: Logan Mailloux Part 3 The Only Hockey Talk Thread

Hopefully he improves his D. Tiny sample last year, but both his 5 on 5 xGF/60 and xGA/60 were absolutely preposterous at 3.61 and 4.8 respectively

Can't believe some of you guys wanted to trade Mailloux and draft picks for Zegras.
I'm very glad KH didn't trade for Zegras, something Bergy probably would've done. Makes me confident in the management once again.

About Mailloux, he still has a full year to prove himself, I don't necessarily see a him as an important NHLer in the future because of his IQ but still wouldn't trade him for Zegras.

Now look at me jinxing it and watch Zegras put 70 pts next year.

He's a good prospect but I would definitely move him for the right roster player, either a C or an older RD.
Yeah, I’m okay moving him but it has to be for something substantial. It’s a matter of timing. We have him and RB coming up at the same time. We can’t have them both in the lineup at the same time.

I'm so confident with new management they gave us Dach and Newhook.

Yes, but don't you remember that Markov despite undergoing two knee surgeries, was still great ? Okay, Dach wasn't very good in the first place, but he might improve after the injuries.

Newhook is only 24 years old, our own Drouin had his best season at 27 years old, believe my friend !

I'm 30 years old, never played hockey in my life, I may start the season as the Habs #2C, I only have to believe in myself, same for Dach !

Newhook is not enough of a playmaker or a finisher to be a 2nd line player, period, not an ideal 3rd line player for a Cup-contending team and not gritty enough to be a 4th line player.

Trade him, for whatever.

Dach is frustrating and the hope he comeback as a top-6 player isn't very high forme, even as a winger. I am not breaking up Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky and risking Slafkovsky taking step backwards just to see if Dach gets his mojo back playing with Caufield and Suzuki.

Dach and Demidov might help Dach, but playing Laine with those two would be a mistake. Who would be the other winger on that line?

Heineman would likely be the least awful candidate because he plays physically (to dig out pucks on the forecheck) and has anNHL-caliber shot to finish off what Dach and Demidov could create.

Any scenario would be better than Newhook at 2 C
He has no vision
He skates fast ....Great

It's crazy how negative Habs fans on this board seem to be towards Mailloux compared to the hockey industry itself. I've heard numerous respected analysts mention him as a plausible future top 4 NHL dman.

Last week he was selected by AHL GMs to the AHL's top prospect team...
G - Greaves
D - Mailloux, Morrow
F - Dvorsky, Helenius, Nadeau

That's some damn good company and it's a big deal! This is top NHL prospects in the AHL. Not top AHL players (although he has been an AHL All Star despite his youth).

Habs have regretfully traded enough young D over the years who became top 4 fixtures (or top 2) on their new NHL team. Mailloux has a rare size and skill combination and he missed some key development time (almost two full seasons). He was drafted as a raw player with great tools and a potential home run who would take some time. It's mind boggling to me how many in here have given up on him despite his huge strides and despite our history of trading strong Dmen too soon. Furthermore, RD is a huge weakness in our organization. We only have one RD on the NHL team.

Like Axl Rose says...all we need is just a little patience.
