You are getting WAY ahead of yourself.

For starters Armia will not be in the NHL this season. Its unlikely he even comes to camp.

Second, as I posted earlier, Bob McKenzie said the 9 game tryout may not be available due to the time of year and its impact on junior clubs. If thats the case Grigs will have a week of practicing to show what he's got.

I came here to suggest the possibility of Buffalo giving Grigs the 9 game tryout, but I didn't know this was the case. I don't think there is any need to rush him to the NHL, especially since it's only half of a season and it would burn a year off of his ELC, but if he looks good in camp, then why not?

He basically said GMs don't know if its an option or if a scaled down version will be available or nothing at all. It hasn't been clarified.

To the above poster, I hope to god John Scott isn't on the opening day lineup.

Rochester is going to definitely be losing Foligno, Hodgson, and McNabb. Maybe Tropp if he wasn't out for the season.

McNabb is staying in Rochester. Brennan will be in camp. He needs to clear waivers to be assigned to the Amerks.

it makes NO sense to keep Grigorenko in the Q. Use this shortened year to get him acclimated to the NHL so he's raring to go in 13/14. It's not like this team is a favorite as is anyways.

Get the growing pains out of the way now.

This season is going to be a sprint. You can't afford losing streaks.

Anyone else worried Regehr is going to be brutal. Old man legs that haven't been used since April. Even late last season he seemed to be burned out to me.

We got enough D, play him every other game.

The last 48 game season benefited the younger, faster players.

That's how I see it, I think the shortened season could really help the vets stay fresh.

Nope. Most of the top scorers in the last 48 game season were young (23 or so). Whereas, the season before benefited the veterans.

would be nice if Canadian media could spend at least 30 seconds on american teams during a 2 hour broadcast.

I fail to see what this has to do with Regehr, who is a defensive dman not a scoring forward. If we want to throw out anecdotal stats for fun. The Cup winning Devils had four dmen that were 30 or older as did their their opponent the Red Wings.

Also where are you coming up with the stats to back this claim?

I just looked at the top 10 scorers from that season. There were actually 11 players listed due to a tie for 10th. Four of them were 31 or older (Francis, Coffey, Messier and Oates) and 4 that were 23 or younger (Jagr, Lindros, Zhamnov and Renberg) and 3 in between (Fluery, LeClair and Sakic). All of these players had strong years the year before and the year after. So I fail to see where this argument of yours about youth dominating is holding any water.

You have 2/3rds of one of the most dominate lines of that time and Jagr making up 3 of the 4 under 23 players. Are you really going to argue it was their age that was the reason for their success that season?

Still undecided if the shortened season is conducive to what we bring to the table as a team as we're currently built.

I really think we're going to bring Grigorenko up, we need his offensive abilities, I think playing in the NHL could be very very good for him if he gets to play with Vanek and Pominville. I mean freakin' Luke Adam was able to play with those two and dominate for a little bit. Grigorenko has skills that are perfectly conducive with their games, can hit those passes where Vanek can just pot them in. If they can get some chemistry, oh boy..

Vanek Grigorenko Pominville
Foligno Ennis Stafford
Leino Hodgson Ott
Gerbe McCormick Kaleta

Lindy distributes line times evenly anyways. Grigorenko is the kind of player that makes your other players better and it is exactly what we need.

They've had practice at the Northtown Center before, wouldn't be surprised if they hit the ice there for a day.

Rooting for last place... seriously. :)

Stock up more draft picks. Almost the same mushy roster as last year.

It's October of 2013 I'm interested in... not this half-season tripe with last year's roster.

If grigorenko makes the team I wouldn't be opposed of putting Pommer with Leino and Hodgson. Pommer really makes everyone around him better and they should be the most balanced line, especially in defensive zone against the opposing top lines.

Vanek, Grigorenko and Ott can play on the offensive starts which is where Vanek is best anyway, and Ott who is good in the circle and defensively can help a less experienced Grigorenko out in those aspects.

Foligno-Ennis-Stafford is more or less locked to start out together.

Eh, I'm having some issues shaking all the rust off. I will probably remain the same until the actual games start.....I am still having doubts the idiots doing the negotiating won't decide to set themselves back another few weeks over the placement of a comma.

Sign a cast-away for 3rd or 4th line checking duty. Dom Moore, come on down.

I'm a Colorado fan, but I play as Buffalo in an NHL 13 GM Connected league, and I signed Moore in the off-season. I know, I know -- videogames etc etc., but I love how he fits in on the roster. Probably won't happen in real life due to Leino's contract, but I really think he'd add a lot of depth to the team.

Also, this game mode is slowly turning me into a Buffalo fan. I'll be watching a few more Sabres' games this year.

FYI Ted Black's on Hockey Hotline right now.

EDIT: He didn't comment on much; schedule soon, possibly later today; he will be in NYC on Wednesday for BOG meeting aka CBA ratification.

Im concerned about the lack of a 3C on the roster right now. None of Ott, Gerbe, Leino fill that position IMO. I feel like signing one should be a priority, or I wouldnt mind a last place finish to get Nathan MacKinnon...
