This is weird. All this time I've been assuming there wouldn't be a season. It seems like the games are just going to feel like exhibitions once the season starts.

yeah it'll definitely be strange having the first game matter. The first 5-10 games could be very random and erratic.

Ironically enough they may be some of the most entertaining hockey we watch.

Teams won't have their systems locked in yet. So there should be plenty of breakdowns and turnovers leading to scoring chances.

Definitely true, I have a feeling better the over across the board for the first 5-10 games for every team would be a profitable strategy. It will naturally be some sloppy hockey.

I'm really starting to get pissed about them not releasing even part of the schedule. Perhaps they aren't thinking about how fans have jobs and lives where they might actually need to PLAN to have a day off or something.

It's not as big of a deal as many are making it, you know they first game is going to be next Saturday and maybe even Sunday. The schedule will be out by Saturday so most people should have enough time (10+ days) to make arrangements.

This might be a little off-topic since it likely pertains to the 2013-14 season, but are we getting new alternates? I heard Teddy or Terry say something about it a while back, wanted to see if you guys knew more than me.

Anyone know the details on NHL Center Ice for this season? Is it going to be available? Comcast is saying it's not available right now.

Last I heard there will be no alternate this season with a new alternate for 13-14

Even when the season is normal, I NEVER hear a price until the week before the season starts.

I anticipate that we'll hear about pricing on the 17th or 18th.

Not sure if this is anything more than a rumor, but I recall seeing something about how one of the ways the NHL wants to apologize to fans for the lockout is to provide free Center Ice for this season. Keep an eye on that.

It'll be pro-rated for a 48 game schedule. DIRECTV says "as soon as full details are available, it will once again be available for sale."
2012-13 renewal price is 4 payments of $42.95/month. Should there be a delay in the season and games are missed, the price will be adjusted accordingly. This amount will appear on your bill once an agreement has been made.

Centre Ice cannot be made free. The NHL doesn't really have much to do with the service, it's a secondary company that handles it called inDEMAND.

Edit: Here's an article outlining it pretty nicely - http://www.sbnation.com/2013/1/6/3843108/why-free-center-ice-simply-cant-happen

The math works out to $100 practically on the button

(4*$42.95) * (48/82) = $100.56

Boy i hope they discount it a little bit, like an early bird special with it being $20 off.

Foligno(82) Ennis(63) Stafford(21)
Ott(9) Grigorenko(25) Leino(23)
Scott(#) Ellis(37) Kaleta(36)

is this what we are looking at to start with Gerbe and McCormick out? I cant imagine 25 not getting a look with 2-3 spots open to start.

Scott will get games here and there, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Porter centering Ellis and Kaleta, at least until Gerbe gets back and they had the option to keep up Porter or move Ellis inside.
