No, stop getting ahead of everything! The focus is playing smarter/better in Game 2 and push hard to win the game, and not think anymore ahead!Need to split at home and away now…minimum…
Unless you are using some kind of reverse psychology here, just don't leave and stop posting such negative crap after just R2G1!Canes have room to improve as well, they also seemed a bit clunky. Next time, those Canes hit the net instead of like 5 posts and it’s a blowout.
Which brings me back to my original point. It’s over, we need to be freaking out rn

lol f***ing A man
We are really doing this
Lose game 1 in OT and its franchise altering
We got this
I mean, I would say Protas, Leonard, and McMichael had the most jump of anyone on the team and those are the most recent draftees that played tonight. Strome is slow. Ovechkin and Carlson have never been fast and are getting old. Dowd (foot speed) and Eller (taking way too long to make decisions with the puck) stood out like sore thumbs for different reasons. But as someone alluded to previously, Staal is pretty slow but looked fast compared to other guys because they played decisive as a team while the Caps looked extremely hesitant.I don’t mean to overreact to one game. But as a bigger picture point - this why I get tired of drafting bad skaters and hoping to fix them.
Then acting shocked when facing teams that beat you to every spot. Again, it’s one game, and it’s not just skating obviously - need faster/better decision making, and better firmness on the puck.
The Canes system isn’t some mystery, it’s basically a 2-1-2 forecheck. Our guys just have to be faster and smarter getting out of our zone.

Carolina is fast in general, but the Caps made them look that much faster because they couldn’t handle pucks, weren’t winning battles, and were very slow in their decision making. Their last matchup of the regular season looked much different. Not taking anything away from Carolina as they played well, but the Caps were also just atrocious. They have a few system things they can tweak, but the effort needs to improve more than anything.
There have been a lot of odd takes on this game but saying Ovechkin was never fast might be the oddest. It's objectively false.I mean, I would say Protas, Leonard, and McMichael had the most jump of anyone on the team and those are the most recent draftees that played tonight. Strome is slow.
