Post-Game Talk: Literally shooting yourself in the foot

Skinners "awwshucks, well get better" and his general spoken narrative is consistent with somebody that thinks they are Alice in Wonderland forever.

Oh look Dorothy, now we're back in the AHL and we suck. Thats your future Skinner. Beyond that bagging groceries.

it really does seem from his words that Skinner figures theres just an endless supply of playoff seasons, regular seasons and plenty of time to get it right. This is his competitive fire. "we'll get better next time"

All the intensity of somebody playing Cribbage at the cabin. I'll play better cards next time, you'll see"

Funny how the people who defended Skinner for most of the season and tried to convince us that he was good enough for us to win it all (0-3 for a team that is 9-3. lol) are his most eager defenders on that last goal. And even they won't claim that Skinner is good... It's as if they want to cling to some faint hope that he isn't THAT bad. Pride is a motherf***er, ain't it?

And why does it even matter who is at fault for that last goal when Skinner already failed to stop two shots that everyone from Devan Dubnyk to BumbleBrainMan agree should have been stopped? Is absolving him of guilt on that last goal, and blaming our best player (and best player in the league), because that's what you guys just love doing, blaming our best players to defend Skinner, going to somehow redeem Skinner for that performance? Give it up already.

no he didn't have an angle, Skinner forced a shot to go wide....if Draisaitl wasn't standing here, that puck does not go in...that's a fact
Reilly shooting it wide doesn't mean there wasn't an angle for it to go on net. There is no fact. It just means he missed the net.

In what world do you think that Reilly didn't have an angle to score on the net here? Skinner's stick is not on the ice btw.

he missed the net cause Skinner forced him to miss the net...how it this difficult to understand? Smith would've been better off just shooting it

You're just being obtuse. You can clearly see he has a shot angle at the net in that frame. Yes Skinner being there forced him to hold onto it longer I suppose, but it doesn't mean he didn't have an angle to score from because he obviously did and missed his shot.

Not even an Oilers fan and it drives me f***ing insane that the best team in the NHL is pissing away games by playing this bozo in net
Again welcome to the club. Skinner is in net. Drinks are half prize and you better order a lot, you'll be needing it.

Heres what AI has to tell us: (Now I'm convinced some of the posters here must be bots) ;)

The phrase "Stuart Skinner bozo" refers to criticism of the Edmonton Oilers' goaltender, Stuart Skinner, by fans and some analysts who believe he is not a reliable starter. While some fans appreciate his resilience and efforts, others find him inconsistent, especially in high-pressure situations.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Criticism of Performance:
Some fans and analysts argue that Skinner is a mediocre goalie, pointing to his shaky play on the first shot, tendency to be down on his knees, and struggles in critical situations.

  • Comparison to Other Goalies:
Some argue that other goalies could have a better save percentage with the Oilers, suggesting that Skinner's performance is more a reflection of the team's strength rather than his own abilities.

  • Lack of Confidence:
Some fans lack confidence in Skinner to make the crucial saves when needed, especially when the team is in a close game.

  • Team's Dependence on Skinner:
Some fans feel the Oilers are overly reliant on Skinner and that the team needs to be more consistent and not as dependent on him to bail them out.

  • Positive Aspects:
Despite the criticism, some fans appreciate Skinner's determination, resilience, and the fact that he enjoys the pressure of playing in Edmonton.

  • Fan Reactions:
Some fans have been vocal about their frustrations with Skinner's performance, using derogatory terms to express their opinions.

If Skinner could make it to 10 shots on net without being scored on people probably wouldn't be dumping on Draisaitl because we would have won the game.
There's a small collection of "fans" on here that probably took great enjoyment in Draisaitl's performance, as it provided them with a prime opportunity to shit on him.

the shot angle was a lot worse because Skinner forced him to take a more difficult shot at a very acute angle and he missed and the puck was going wide
its not like Smith took a soft shot that leaked though here...
