Skinner could have stopped the puck from coming out in front of the net but deflected it to Vegas.
And Dubnyk normally defends Skinner a ton.
He’s absolutely right on all of this. The team was playing good hockey until that first goal and then they struggled. Those first 2 goals shouldn’t have gone in, he should have had them, he straight up misplayed them both. That locker room must have sucked between periods.Excellent analysis by Dubnyk on the first 2 goals. Bad bad goaltending.
Why would you post the first still frame when he played that 2 on 1 perfectly?
Thats three times you’ve made the same post. Yet miraculously you haven’t typed out the words ‘Stuart Skinner’ once. Team could have played better. Your buddy Skinner choked it away again.Yup, they need to start playing harder. No coincidence they tied the game when they actually put pressure on Vegas.
Still, maybe it serves as a lesson. They got away with a subpar game last game. Not this one.
All you need to see is McD shaking his head in frustration about the Vegas first goal. With Skinner stopping a shot and then falling on his ass and the rebound goes in.He’s absolutely right on all of this. The team was playing good hockey until that first goal and then they struggled. Those first 2 goals shouldn’t have gone in, he should have had them, he straight up misplayed them both. That locker room must have sucked between periods.
The team doesn’t trust him and he does nothing to try and flip that narrative.
I've been one of his biggest critics on this board. All I say is that he did enough on the last goal to get the game to OT, had it not been for Draisaitl deflecting the puck. Simple as that. I didn't even say he played it textbook or any nonsense like that. He just...did enough. But like I said, he cost the team the game in general. It's called a joke....you are taking my response/disagreement to your take far too seriously. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine is no better than any others, but I stand firm that Stu should have stood firm in his net on goal 4 and Drai's deflection was an unfortunate bounce as he tried to cover for Skinner.
Anyway, no issues from me and I could care less what level I played or you played or anyone played. But you did ask and I am sure if I responded I played Div 8 House League you would have called me out for not being qualified to have an opinion on goaltending at the NHL level - so you asked me a gotcha question for which there was no correct answer in your mind.
Either way, I do know the position, not as well as I used to because the position has changed dramatically over the years, and others do as well who never played at any level. I think most are in agreement that Stu needs to be in the net and to not lose track of time (his words not mine).
Lol, this is the dumbest take on here. By your own logic, who are you too say Skinner cost them the game? And you really think playing AAA in Manitoba gives you the right to tell people on this board they don't know anything about hockey, when there are undoubtedly people who played at a higher level on this board, including myself, because you don't agree with their take?
Anyways, I've said my pieced. Skinner cost the Oilers this game but 4th goal is on the guy who scored on his own net with .4 seconds left. I leave it that.
On the first two Nurse is in outnumbered situations down low which isn't his fault. Its the fault of the team not being in their sets, and not being back. IN the last its Nurse panicking with secs left and because Skinner is in net. I'd be worried too and turns out it was justified.
Then McDavid gets to hear the presser where he says “I gave them a chance to win but it was just bad bounces”.All you need to see is McD shaking his head in frustration about the Vegas first goal. With Skinner stopping a shot and then falling on his ass and the rebound goes in.
This is your goalie McD. Not effing good enough, and everybody knows it. Skinner pissed this game away, like he does half the time.
He was swimming on the ice and let the pass go past him and because he was swimming earlier he was late to the crease and unable to push any attacker out.Why would you post the first still frame when he played that 2 on 1 perfectly?
Long walk off a short pier.No accountability whatsoever. Take a short walk off a long pier you absolute clown.
I'm not the one telling people they don't understand hockey.Lol, this is the dumbest take on here. By your own logic, who are you too say Skinner cost them the game?
Let me guess, on the internet you played in the AHL?
Yep. A shot from Smith from 20 feet out who is heading towards the boards. That is a low danger shot that every goalie should save. You know that right? Smith isn’t Austin MatthewsIf Skinner stays in his net, Smith has an uncontested shot from 10 feet out with 2 seconds left in the game. You see this, right?
The chance to win is score 5 goals I guess. jebus Dallas would lose almost every game with those odds. Then McDavid gets to hear the presser where he says “I gave them a chance to win but it was just bad bounces”.
The lack of any self reflection, or acknowledgement that he can make a mistake is baffling and I am certain it pisses the players off. When Pickard gives up a bad goal, which he has you never see guys deflate or look like that. But with Skinner? Always.
lol exactly what a dumb post from that guyYep. A shot from Smith from 20 feet out who is heading towards the boards. That is a low danger shot that every goalie should save. You know that right? Smith isn’t Austin Matthews
