Post-Game Talk: Literally shooting yourself in the foot

My distaste for Stuart Skinner is amongst is sourest, and for years. I fell to my knees when I saw this morning that he's starting. He let in at least 2 saveable goals, again, and that last goal was on him. If Leon didn't intercept, there was a Knight right there for the open net tap in.

All that being said, start Skinner game 4. What? Who tf would do that if Pickard is healthy?
I know its last year, but it was just last year. Stuart Skinner was undefeated in games 4 to 7 all the way until game 7 of the finals. He was 10-1, and his save % compared to games 1-3 was jekyl and hyde, just mind bending difference. I actually feel a little bad for him, he was trying, and he looks defeated and deflated, as he should. But that is the catalyst to our real starting goalie coming to life.

Start him game 4, and he will be the first star of the game. As with any team on a winning streak, the desperation and compete naturally fall off with each win. I think we can all agree we were fortunate to win game 2. A loss, especially for this team, is a blessing in disguise. They go into round 3, not having tasted defeat since round 1 game 2, and they get mowed down in round 3. Imo, the adversity from round 2 last year is what propelled them past Dallas.
That was our only loss this round, but it was necessary imo. Game 4 is going to be one-sided
No.

If we start Skinner next game shots will be 50-15 for the Oilers and we will lose 5-4

There's no chance you watch Skinner's movement on that play and say "yeah thats excellent goaltending, what a great way to challenge the shooter".
Thats the best his movement has looked all season, ive never seen a goalie track the player 20 feet out of his net like that.

Too bad thats the only time he challenges the shooter when he should just tend the goal.

That was Stu last season when he had some solid stretches under his belt. He has been shit this entire season.

McDavid got his stick slashed, no penalty was called. Vegas gets away with another one.

The orgs gotta call out this crap. Take the fine. People pay $50 beers at Roger’s anyway.

I mean who really gives a f*** who is to blame for that last goal? We know AT LEAST one goal IS his fault.

We are literally incapable of winning a single playoff game this year with Skinner in net.

We are literally incapable of losing one WITHOUT Skinner in net.

Drai's lane to cut off Karlsson in the NZ is a highlight on that play, too. Could've easily cut him off if he didn't try to skate right at him. Another comeback game in these playoffs where the stars get caught late being too aggressive.

Suggesting that Drai is only on for two against glosses over the horrific puck clear and line change that was immediately preceeded the odd man rush that leads to Vegas' third goal. No minus for Draisaitl, but he dawdles to the bench while Vegas counters with numbers.

Our fans have a tendency to beat the same drum when bad things happen. It's possible for multiple things to be a reason why these things occur.

Should the goalie stop pucks? Yeah. But we can also not make dumb plays in the neutral zone and not force bad passes in times where a simple dump will suffice.
Again the whole line changed. It was a good Vegas play to exploit it. But its not like the Oilers have been bad on line changes of late. They haven't been. They got caught on that one.

But lets also mention that McD and Drai get more toi than any forwards in hockey and have played a ton and including a couple OT's so far. Fatigue and mistakes happen. The whole DNA of the Vegas club is causing NZ mistakes. its their bread and butter, so that it occasionally works.

Usually McD and Drai are the ones picking pockets and so I don't blame any of them on off nights.

Both were probably groaning the moment they heard Pickard was injured. This basically means you have to completely unpack your game and score minimum 5 goals to Win because the idiot in your net could let anything in.

The whole team gets off their game with Skinner in net and its clear why. They have to overcompensate all over.

The puck literally doesn't go into the net if Draisaitl doesn't shoot it in himself. You understand this, right?

Skinner is maybe not even a backup goalie and was at fault for 1 and 2, but Draisaitl shot a puck into his own net with .4 seconds left. It's that simple.
lol- Draisaitl didn’t shoot it in the net- it deflected off his stick. You do understand that Skinner wasn’t even in his net right? If Skinner did his job- there would be no puck to deflect. You must surely see this

Thats the kind of shit you see on a goalie who is 10 feet from the bench trying to go 6 on 5 and the puck gets turned over and he's forced to skate 80 feet backwards on a breakaway trying to find his net.

Sickening loss.

I actually hate Skinner. Like legitimately hate him.

I’m not watching game 4 live if he’s starting. I’ll just PVR it.

Same. Not going through the frustration of seeing that guy in Oiler silks ever again. I’d rather watch an old Survivor re-run. It’s a waste of time and bad for my blood pressure at my advancing age.

Team has 0 confidence in this sieve,if he never wears the jersey again he can be the next Carey price for all I care but if I see him in another game for this team in the playoffs it’s my thirteenth reason why.

One guy slammed 4 on the jumbotron tonight during 4 different tv timeouts. He's probably throwing up right now, but I hope that was a good $60 well spent.

If you watch the angle it would have gone in, just not in time. The angle has it going right inside the post.
Nope, it would've easily missed the net if not deflected.

Had to listen to the game while driving tonight. Didn't see the replay video until I got home. Letting Skinner start another game is just management malpractice. He offers minimal upside and the downside of losing the series himself. He's not an NHL caliber player, full stop. Even when he's playing good he's just good. No reason to trust him, a multitude of reasons to distrust him. Play anyone else in the organization. One of the worst playoff goalies ever to grace the league.

The moment we find out Skinner is starting game 4 (and let's hope for the love of all things holy he isn't and Pickard is back) we all know the series may as well be automatically tied.

Anyway, I'm off to bed to punch my pillow.
