Post-Game Talk: Literally shooting yourself in the foot

There were a lot of mistakes but at the end of the day... the goalie literally had to hug his post and wait three seconds. That's it. That's all.
This is the perfect post to describe it.

I mean thats it. Skinner just has to be a goalie on the play. Instead of whatever he was doing. Reilly must have wet himself when he saw Skinner floating away from cage. "Holy shit, this might even work again"

Agreed. He moved the shooter to a spot that was virtually harmless from a direct shot. Obviously, he couldn't have expected Draisaitl to shoot it into his own net. Skinner played that perfectly fine to get the game to OT.
Let me understand this logic. He moved the shooter to a spot it was virtually a harmless shot? So did he stop the shot? Do you think pucks going through the crease with no goalies are from harmless shots? Let me ask- can other players be in the crease the puck may hit and go in (Draisaitl in this case)?

I’ll explain what actually happened. Stu did not recognize the game situation. He, inexplicably, decided to take himself completely out of position and leave his net (you know the thing he is supposed to be guarding) wide open. I originally thought this was on Draisaitl- but seeing the replays- it’s 100% on Skinner. Where the f*** was he?

Cant be too hard on Draisaitl, we know he can be better.

Not sure we can expect the turd in net to be any better considering he thought he was fine.

Its very telling when all the players praise Pickard by name, and then talk about skinner in code speak about how he wasnt good enough.
Let's hope that Pickard is healthy enough to play by game 4 or 5 at the absolute latest. Skinner isn't good enough and neither is Rodrigue. I have no idea why we couldn't have at least upgraded on Rodrigue at the deadline if we supposedly couldn't upgrade on Stu.

I'd laugh react this if people as mentally weak as our third or fourth best organizational goalie didn't report me for "flaming" on the mains. lol. Still worth it though.

How is Nathaniel Day doing?
20 years old but maybe he could be the answer if Pickard can't come back?? A long shot but so was the last rush tonight.

This is not a joke anymore. Skinner is 0-3 in his only 3 games played this playoffs. He has a GAA above 6. His save percentage is approaching sub .800. And just to put it into perspective the Oilers have scored 10 fking goals in those 3 losses. This is beyond a joke now.

Wish mcdaid had a mean streak to him and gave the management an ultimatum over Skinner playing again. Fk me I'm angry

I start Rodrigue over Skinner just for the fact that the team might not play so scared.

We went 1/2 on the powerplay.

Not sure we can expect every powerplay to score.
We are like 1/8 or 1/9 in the series and most of them have not been very good. It's not an issue of a lack of puck luck, it's an issue of Vegas' PK being very good and having a solid gameplan against us. We need to make adjustments.

Wasn’t there an available deal with the Ducks rumored?

DRai wasn't good in the game. I said that multiple times. But what Oiler was good in this game? McD and Hyman? Perry? Its about it. Drai had company.
None were great but he stood out above them all, and not in a good way. And he wasn’t good the game before. Not sure what the issue is, but he’s not skating up to his usual standard. And when he’s not skating, bad things happen. We badly need him to turn this around.

Classic Not My Fault Stu.

1st goal / a total mess of an initial save and winds up flat on his ass losing the puck completely and doing the freshly caught fish dance, puck into net.

2nd goal / yes a breakaway where he lifts his sliding pad up - why only he and God knows - and it’s an easy slide through a bus sized 5 hole.

3rd goal / yes a shit line change but overplays the short pass and has to dash back allowing the puck to magically go right through him

4th goal / what in the holy f*** was that. Lost track of time, did the Street Hockey Shuffle and gets walked. Just stay in your Goddam net so Pope Leo doesn’t have to put his stick into your yawning cage to prevent an open net goal YOU FKG MORON.

Yes Smilin’ Stu made a couple nice stops. That’s what he’s paid to do. But the 4 he lets in are all stoppable pucks, 3 of them routine.

The gameplay completely changed after that joke of a first goal where the team visibly tightened their sphincters because of his erratic goaltending.

Get him away from the team. I’d rather ride and die with an EBug at this point.

He’s such shitty goalie. I know some were saying Skinner at his best is better than Pickard…I dunno. Skinner at his best is just league average
And on that note about averages…

After the 2-1 goal McDavid has that look of “make a f***ing save” on his face so there is that.

McDavid was part of the problem himself tonight.
Perry is the only one who can talk up tonight.
Walman was the only Oilers to finish the game on + side tonight. Up to +12 in playoffs now.

The puck literally doesn't go into the net if Draisaitl doesn't shoot it in himself. You understand this, right?

Skinner is maybe not even a backup goalie and was at fault for 1 and 2, but Draisaitl shot a puck into his own net with .4 seconds left. It's that simple.

I agree, but it was much better tonight.

We're now 6 for 8 at home, and 0% on the road, its weird.
