Player Discussion Linus Ullmark (G)

I think we can make it work with Ullmark but we have to improve the D.

Take Adin Hill in Vegas; he's a good goalie but he's a product of the air tight D in front of him. The Vegas blueline is huge and well coached. They don't miss many assignments, they block a lot of shots and they get the puck out. That's what we need in front of Ullmark.
Agreed, but we need a set of Fs who are committed to playing a 200 foot game which includes forechecking to keep the puck in the O zone, backchecking to force turnovers in the N zone and solid defensive play without the puck in our D zone (less puck-watching and more active marking a man rather then reacting to passes after they are made). A set of 6 solid D cannot do it alone.

He was bad.

And he was especially bad in game 6. Those first two goals the leafs simply aren’t a scoring

If they could play Linus every round they would be cup champs

Take a break dude, it’s springtime.

Your takes have been so whiney bad for months, why not go recharge the old battery or something, step away from the keyboard and vent the negative energy with a hike or something.

You’ve become a caricature of what you once were.

Outside of game 1 when the whole team stunk, I thought Ullmark played reasonably well. The Leafs had like 40 high danger chances to the Sens 30, so the series went about how it should have. The Sens made more colossal defensive mistakes such as the 2 OT goals, and the Patches series winner. Their youth / lack of experience really showed in their mistakes, although they played with a lot of heart and never quit.

Ullmark wasn’t good enough. Wasn’t the only problem. But no excuses he needed to be better.

We need the JGPs, Chris Kelly’s bottom 6 depth that can commit to a defensive structure/defensive assignment and kill PKs

Bad goaltending is bad goaltending.

Where were you when I was praising our 5 on 5 play in the playoffs?
