Player Discussion Linus Ullmark (G)

the montreal outing you can definitely put on him but its hard to put the jets outing on him. He had a 947 sv percentage yesterday. Hard to win when the team only scores one goal
He had a better game but 2nd goal he lost track of the puck and the 3rd goal was a bad angle by Connor. I think if he’s on top of his game he stops both of those (and ultimately that’s the difference between losing in regulation or at least getting a point…not that we deserved it by any means)

Did come in clutch later so maybe all of this was balancing act, but yet another deflating loss

This is fair, definitely let in at least a goal he should have had but was great later.

I was just pointing out that expecting him to be perfect/near perfect is unreasonable (if thats the expectation of a shutout/1 goal against) and if it isnt then even if he saved one of those goals we still would have lost

manz had a .947 save percentage. He made enough saves to keep us in the game at all time but our sorry ass forwards would struggle to score on an AHL team the way they played

Sometimes it's not about how many saves you make, it's about when you make them.

Letting in that 2nd goal in the 1st, considering the lineup we had and knowing how difficult it'd be for us to score on Hellebyuck, was the nail in the coffin.

60 games in to the season and we still lost the trade.
Bruins are loving both kasty and korpi. (Could have picked greentree too).

Hope it flip flops soon.

Disagree.

.912 save % with some inconsistency, but when he has had time to play regularly he has also been very good.

Even last night, 2 of the goals against he had no chance. I didn't like the PP goal from the point, but other than that he was solid.

Bruins fans can love Korpisalo all they want but he's got a .895 sv% with a .500 QS% and Kastelic after a hot start has reverted into what he always was, a 4th liner who's -9 in his last 20 games and doesn't add much offence.

Meanwhile, among goalies with 25+ games played (essentially starters plus a few) Ullmark has the 9th best sv% above expected (Korpisalo would be 28th but didn't play enough games, a tad behind Forsberg who also didn't have enough games but would have been 24th) , and a QS% of .667

Ullmark has had some ups and downs, so I get the frustration, but the reality is overall he's been a very good goalie for us. We just need him to stay healthy.

They wouldn't even be in this spot if it weren't for Ullmark's hot stretch earlier in the year and he still holds a respectable .912 save %.

Korpisalo is finding some success as a sheltered backup, good for him, that's right where he belongs. Never should have gotten that starter's contract and all would be fine.

Korpisalo is a Bruin now. He’s been a Bruin all season long. It’s time to put the Korpisalo talk to bed now.

As for something more topical, I hope Ullmark has shaken off the rust, or whatever it was, and is in a groove now. We are going to need him to be solid in the home stretch.

Merilainen looks like the other part of our goalie tandem now in the future (maybe not this year as he may stay in Belleville to play the rest of their games). Hopefully, the tender situation has been solidified and Staois & company can focus on other needs.

Confirmed for tonight
Thompson confirmed too

We got this guy for a lot of reasons, but winning on the road had to be priority #1.

We have to have at least a .500 road record to make the playoffs and these two road games coming up will determine our playoff lives.

If we can’t win the majority of our road games down the stretch then it’ll be tough to make the playoffs.

I’d consider tonight a must win and Ullmark simply has to deliver - it’s time he becomes the man and is elite

Sure is, but they have played Washington great, and if they get back to their good he just has to be very good. Like against SJ. That game oculd have been lost in the first 10 shots with three Grade A's
Yep both Washington games went to OT I think, series 1-1.
