I'm going to be mindful to not get anxious if Ullmark has a similar stretch of games like he did at the start of the season. Sure it'll suck, but the dude is better than those games and even if he's not lights out like he is right now, he'll still have games where we lose (for whatever reason) but he'll still do his part to keep us in
I mean, look at our record when we get a .900 average in net. They shouldn't need him to be .930+ and they should win some for him when he is sub .900

It's amazing what a good backstopper means and we have watched so many teams enjoy success due to their goalie and then build a stronger team around that. I expect the FA market may soften for the Senators a bit if the trend of playoffs continues. Maybe more D will want to play in front of Linus.

I said after we got him that I thought he was the key to the season, and will end up the best goalie in Sens history. He shook my confidence a little with that start, but I stand behind that.

Will go down as one of the greatest trades ever for the franchise.

Ya wonder how much missing time twice (exhibition and early on) with the “strain” , affected his play.

Remember this one about Linus @sena
sure I hope he keeps it up. Its a concern if he can keep it up once the wheels fall of for a game or two.
He had complaints that Buffalo "didn't support him" The problem was they wanted him to play when he just wasn't like feeling it mannn
He is playing better than any player the sens have ever had, except perhaps the Hamburgler run. He is playing better than that but what a long crazy run that was

At the time, I started to worry. In hindsight, I think it's easy to point to that, and adjusting to a new team/situation. He also talked about some mechanical changes him and Peters had worked on after reviewing video. I think he saw at least some of what was going wrong and corrected it.

I just love the guy. Such a mature and humble, yet very confident attitude. His interviews always have a fun answer.

All we needed was Hasek to stay healthy :(
I worked with a guy whose his buddy worked for the sens in some capacity back in the day. He said that during the playoffs that year, Hasek was in the room doing the splits with his nose touching the ground and would just say he doesn’t feel ready yet and apparently Phillips snapped and checked his stick across the room. Who knows, but I do trust the guy that told me

That would sound like we are jeering him. That's exactly how I would chant his name if he was an opponent and gave up a few bad ones.

UUUUUULLLLLMAAAAARRRRKKKK

I could see full name with some claps in between...or we can try something more unique.
Why isn't that the case when they say Zub's name? Is it because his name only has one syllable? But I like what you sounded out. I just think saying his full name during a chant is a mouthful, but that's just me.

Vancouver is in a bit of disarray right now with injuries to their blueline and their top 2 centres not being on the same page. This team feels ripe for the picking and the team might go out there and play extra hard if we give Meriläinen the net. Would give Ullmark a rest day to come in at 100% against Edmonton. We'll need him at his best if we want to slow down McDrai, let alone beat the Oil
My one concern is that the boys seem to be struggling with time zone changes even on the first game of B2B, so how will they be on the 2nd night after travelling from BC to Alberta?

I was checking out TML schedule for their next road trip out west, and what do you know? They play both Alberta teams before they head out further west to play Van and Seattle who are both in the same time zone.

This Sens Western road trip has them going to a different time zone each game, even the next B2B. Not sure if the Wild and Jets are in the same time zone. Would be nice if they are. It's going to be tough on their internal clocks. I think it might be hard for them to find their legs, hoping I'm wrong.

Didn't he decline NJ? I thought I remember reading that he'd turned down a couple places, like LA and NJ, but not sure if I'm remembering that correctly.
I know he turned down LA, didn't want to go out west or to a major market. I don't remember hearing anything about NJD but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Speaking with a couple of Sens fans last night and the love for this guy is huge, the fans love hasn’t reached the zeitgeist yet but Ullmark will be an all time beloved Sens because it’s still just the first few weeks of the relationship, but it’s crazy stupid love for most already
He was getting a lot of love before even putting on the jersey for the 1st time. Now it's his play that is making him almost as popular as those 2 other Swedes 😉😉.

Right up there with the trade that got us Chara and Spezza IMO.

During one of his interviews he talked about it taking time to get used to the new city, the new environment (systems, players). That may have played a part too.

Please fake an injury so you don’t go to four nations or whatever it’s called.
oh he is fighting for the starter role. Markstrom and Gustavsson are battling for that net with him.

Was looking like they were going to go with Markstrom but with the hot streak Ullmark is on and his recent Vezina I don't know how they don't go with him? I know we are worried with what happened in the past with Hasek, BUT we also shouldn't forget how great the international events were for elevating Karlsson's status in the hockey world.

I'd heard something similar and it sounded like just having Hasek around acting like that became a massive distraction. So it wasn't just that he wasn't on the ice, he hurt the team's chemistry/focus.

As a Sens fan first, I can't say I care much about elevated status in the hockey world. Underrate all our players, idgaf. Just have them be healthy and able to compete for us.

Let's all remember this when he hits an inevitable rough patch, and his heroics don't save the day when the team is flat in front of him.

Don't get me wrong. He is a legit star, and you could see in the preseason how he just looks different in the net than anyone we have had (even Andy). He will have a game where the puck isn't hitting him, and I hope the team can step up and support him with goals.
In more or less the same vein, I wonder when they will start Merilainen in a game? I think they have a back-to-back coming up soon. Just curious.
