He was far more than steady, he was amazing.

That said, he made the easy saves look easy and made many hard ones look east too. His presence in net is VERY different than anyone we have had in there since Anderson.
He's the best goalie we've had since Anderson based off pedigree and not his ply, but he's been mediocre this season and cost us wins.

He was steady, great, amazing, whatever positive adjectives we want to use and I hope we get more of that the rest of the season/

I'm concerned with what I saw last night, or maybe it was just one of those off nights but even though Ullmark was great, the team in front of him seemed to play tentative and reactive, afraid almost to make plays and make a mistake compared to in front of Forsberg the other day. I hope he can string a couple of solid games together so they can start playing a little more loose. (But still responsible.)

If anything the team in front of him trusted him enough to take the night off themselves knowing he would do all the work for them.

An unknown! LOL. Best goalie stats over the previous 2 years.

Above average stats his entire career, even on a crappy team in Buffalo.

What do you say after he saved the team last night? That was an embarrassing display they put on in front of him.
you aint a starter until you start a large share of games. playing half time is easier on the body and mind.
He didnt steal the game the other teams goalie lost the game he was average

Maybe instead of killing ourselves to block pucks isn't the way in the regular season for us.
For years now in ottawa I've heard about the need to block pucks. We end up screening our goalie and if it gets through...

I wish we'd box out and not let other teams players screen our goalies. Dude can make saves.
What are we doing to help that?
Game against the Ducks was a perfect example. One goal is deflected off Sandy's skate, another goal deflected off Hamonic's stick. Collapsing in front of the net is not working, why can't the D coach see that? Are the coaches so in love with their system they don't recognize the need for adjustments?

Good on Ullmark for being selected to Team Sweden.

Hope we have a reverse Hasek situation here. Instead of a good goalie going to an international tournament and getting injured, may our mediocre goalie who started the season injured go to the international competition stay healthy and come back when he's back to form.

Why would a defense-first guy, who has never been good offensively, have good underlying offensive analytics?
Which of those are offensive analytics?

How about we look at purely the against column then. I'll even use relative stats so that you can see how well he suppresses chances compared to his teammates (higher is bad, negative is good)

CA/60 rel : +17.11
SA/60 rel: +11.79
xGA/60 rel: +.82
SCA/60 rel: +5.01

Is there more context to this or is Hamonic actually breaking Ullmark

Has Hamonic been great? No, But neither have Sandy or Kleven and to some extent, JBD. Only Chabot/Jensen pairing has been good.
